The North Water also has shit like bashing seals and killing the whale and that's just senseless gore. It's an ok show, but it has more trash and less cake, so it's objectively worse that The Terror

I just watched The North Water and enjoyed it well enough but it is not on The Terror's level. It is still a good show but I was let down by the final two episodes. Farrel kills a that guy and the eskimos at the end of the third episode then just disappears until they are back in London in the final episode which I found disappointing.

The Terror has it's flaws but it's way better, each character has a great arc. TNW is carried by Farrel and it shows, that takes a lot away, when he is not on the screen you lose interest fast but at the same time his character is not likeable at all and at various points more of a plot device.

Nah that was based, that's how shit was done in large scale till like 20 years ago and there is plenty of people still doing, just in smaller areas. It's a good reality check for younger people that grew too confortable thinking everything comes from the grocery store.

They’re two seasons of the same show. There is no reason to prefer one over the other.

I thought the main character doctor guy in North Water was a boring plank of wood. Actually I barely remember the characters in North Water but remember practically everyone from Terror. Terror is better, but if a supernatural Bear with a man face completely ruins your enjoyment of a bunch of white dudes surviving in the artic I guess North Water is better for you.

I preferred the one that wasn't reddit. Oh, wait...

The Terror reaches a higher level of Kino but I think the North Water is slightly better overall. Terror ultimately disappointed me but man those first few eps where great. North Water is a better book too in my opinion. I like some Dan Simmons but that book was my least favorite of what I've read.

Same here. The book starts off really well, but it really loses steam halfway through and gets downright ridiculous in the last quarter. Crozier ending up with the Eskimo lady made absolutely no sense, and him returning to the ship only to find actual ghosts, on the last 2 pages just made my eyes roll. Hickey’s death, however, was much more satisfying in the book

This show is unrealistic.
It shows gay sexual contacts on the ship but in the era that would be impossible because people feared God and would not sin like that.

The Terror would've been perfect if they simply never showed the manbearpig monster at all. Just have it always offscreen or some such contrivance. It could've easily be done too.
Instead they have this ridiculous tv-grade cgi monster show up to mug for the camera and essentially trivialize all the attention to detail and gravitas.
