To be fair, the French financed almost the entirety of Russia’s modernization projects since the 1890s (including railways that would accelerate Russia’s mobilization and deployment to the frontlines). The French and British powers also promised Russia that they could occupy Constantinople as the war got underway (1915 Constantinople Agreement), which has been Russia’s foreign policy North Star since forever.

The Entente would have also been supplying Russians with armament, munitions, etc. if only it wasn’t for the Ottomans joining the war and closing off the Straits.
