>>213410012 >literally a pic from Videocassette recorder wikipedia page
Liar >INB4 NO I WAS JUST POSTING A SYMBOLIC IMAGE, MINE IS THE SAME MODEL ANYWAY REEEEEEEEEEEEE
yeah i miss the constant anxiety every time you pushed a tape in, not knowing if this would be the day it got eaten
there isn't any anxiety about nonsense anymore, we all have real reasons to be very afraid all the time and our illustrious masters infest every space to try to get away from them, to remind you of them.
I do not even slightly miss VCRs. The dogshit picture, the tapes getting jammed and spooling out when you took them out, having to rewind shit.
I can understand people who miss laserdisc slightly, frame by frame viewing and the jog wheel is neat technology that no longer exists because of video encoding. Even so, the picture wasn't great.

I'm old enough to remember watching SuperbowlXX (1986). But I have zero recollection of those machines. I even remember 8Tracks. I'll be damned.

They didnt last very long in the market, and VHS came out shortly after (made by Matsushita as well). so its largely forgotten like V-cord and Cartrivision etc.
>>213410583 >I miss the 20th century too.
that's a very beautiful device you posted a pic of there >yet why would you miss the 20th century
we still have it >media, internet, books etc etc et cetera
>>213410949 >fuck VHS. why would anyone miss that garbage
maybe not prefer the format yet definitely recall with fond recollection the experience of being alone with a stack of rented movies that came on vhs format >Y E S
makes more then cents even makes amerikeen doll hairs
technology should have never advanced beyond early 2000s. That was the perfect sweet spot of SOVL and convenience. There should be amish style settlements with only 2000s and below tech

It doesn't. You can go frame by frame, but it's slow and processor intensive. The frame by frame tech I'm talking about let you go forwards and backwards at any speed and adjust on the fly, and it was instant, because the pictures were analog and not compressed.

With good cassette tapes you knew it would happen someday. >the B-side is playing through.
Same with CDs >theres a scratch
Hope it doesnβt fuck up a good track

There's some old tech that's legitimately just better, though. My MP3 player lasts 50+ hours, weighs less than 50 grams, and stores 32gb of music. Oh, and it has buttons and a headphone jack, so you can use it in your pocket.
When it comes to movies, sure, HD downloads obliterate tapes and discs. But there's a lot of stuff that didn't get better, it got worse.

The local goodwill near me sells pristine condition ones for like 10, 15 bucks. Started collecting VHS again because it's comfy af and a super cheap hobby.

Why can't you just buy and/or still use a VCR in 2025? I still have mine plugged into a CRT TV that I also use to play PS1 and N64 games, etc.
