i read the book but I don't remember a goddamn thing about it other than there being a rival boyfriend who was clearly some kind of stand-in for a person the author disliked in real life, and that the main male character is constantly described as a communist

He definitely was not a communist in the show, or they never once brought up anything like that at all anyway.

All of Marianne's boyfriends besides MC were douchebag weirdos

the book was weird. On one hand it was nice to read, finished it quickly but ultimately i got nothing substantial out of it. Empty calories

The author has a pretty interesting writing style. At the very least it gave me a painful nostalgia remembering my early days with women and anxiety. Not much media makes me really feel something that resonates so much

Yeah, it didn't seem relevant at all and I kept wondering if it would actually affect the plot in some way

I never get tired of seeing more women's breasts. They don't even need to be great, just seeing a new pair of breasts is always worth my time and makes me happy

That's Daisy Edgar-Jones. She shows her tits a lot in a lot of movies/tv shows. She's basically trying to take Eva Greens crown. Someone says sex scene and she's already bent over with her skirt up

it's autobiographical so why wouldn't she make herself a lesbian
Anonymous No.213415479

How is it "stupid and unnecessary"? I actually caught myself wondering about the exact same thing today. At first I thought Charlotte Wells must be gay herself irl, since the film is autobiographical, however I've found no confirmation to this. However then I thought to myself what does it matter if she is or isn't gay, it changes nothing about the story. If she was shown to have a tattoo or a piercing or wearing a Black Sabbath t-shirt to bed you wouldn't think to yourself anything about it, would you? Her being gay should be no more strange to the modern viewer than her being straight.

So did the girl wank her dad off or not?
That's what I took from it anyhow. Then she rages at him for letting her do it, and goes full lesbian.

it's because its auhor, Sally Rooney, is a self proclaimed commie in real life. in the book, Connell is a insert she made, an archetype of the boyfriend she always wanted to have. it would be comical if it wasn't so entitled of her to do that. even his mom is a commie, I rolled my eyes sometimes on my reading.

the TV show brushed off the politics, and that's why it worked.

her next book is even more political, and no one cared about its TV adaptation. well, I guess it's because they didn't toned it down.

Daisy Edgar Jones is just a poor man's Dakota Johnson. She's shorter, she has brown eyes, and she'll never look as good as Dakota with a full fringe haircut.
