>Wallace harshly criticized David Lynchโ€™s use of Richard Pryor in Lost Highway, by then visibly disabled with multiple sclerosis, in one scene. โ€œPryor's infirmity is meant to be grotesque and to jar against all our old memories of the โ€˜realโ€™ Pryor,โ€ wrote Wallace. โ€œPryor's scenes are the parts of Lost Highway where I like David Lynch least: Pryor's painful to watch, and not painful in a good way or a way that has anything to do with the business of the movie, and I can't help thinking that Lynch is exploiting Pryor the same way John Waters exploits Patricia Hearst, i.e., letting an actor think he's been hired to act when he's really been hired to be a spectacle, an arch joke for the audience to congratulate themselves on getting.โ€

Projecting hard much. Much like how i shot 7 splats of hot goey cum on Gina Valentina's ass during a rave and I had stealth whipped my cock because her slutwear had me rock hard in public and she's shorter than expected and Im a dirty pervert man.

I think that both Pryor and Hearst were cases where the directors just liked those people. Lynch and Waters are two of the least mean people ever and DFW. Was just projecting. There's a reason he killed himself, and it sure wasn't because he was happy.

Rare miss from the infinite jester. Pryor is just playing a normal role. I didn't even know he was 'tarded when I watched it. He's just sitting down.

He's right
Twin Peaks the return was a geriatric freak show
so was Jarmusch' Dead don't die

I do not want to see wrinkly slowly moving and muttering old people struggling to breath and get through their lines in crisp high def.
The fact that the old actors in question are somehow culturally familiar just add to this comic con freakshow zoo-feeling of "hey, it's that guy we all liked a lot back then! i feel awesome and homely!"

Absolute retarded opinion. David just cast his friends in movies and just incorporated their physical status into the plot. Log lady had cancer, was he exploitative for making her having it in the show? Or was he clearly just giving a reason for why she's bald now. Hack writer, hack opinion.

This fags problem was that he had way too much empathy. Richard Pryor was a homo cokehead who set himself on fire and barely knew his own children. He doesn't deserve respect.

I've never really liked Lynch. Especially after he made a Masterclass where he explained that he gets his ideas when he sits on his porch and that the ideas for scenes are completely random and then he writes them on post it notes and puts them in some sort of order and tries to make sense of them. Then people act like he's a genius for coming up with random shit that makes no sense.
