On Angel when there is a monster or a demon on the loose, they track it down and kill it.
On Buffy when there is a monster or a demon on the loose, they track it down and kill it.
On Sleepy Hollow when there is a monster or a demon on the loose, they track it down and kill it.
On The X Files when there is a monster or a demon on the loose, half the time it wins, part of the time it appears to die only to have twist ending implying it will come back, and usually when it is killed if you watch the episode carefully you realize it has already killed everyone it was after anyways.
Oh, but Scully is bangable.
