I would suggest you go to the well of classic 1960's TV. The box set of the following should serve you well: > Hogan's Heroes > Batman > Green Acres > Get Smart
>>213418418 >>213418477
I always loved Barney Miller as a sort of companion piece to Columbo. Obviously theyre entirely different shows outside of being about cops, but somehow they have a similar feel.
>>213417879
Iβm partial to Patrick McGoohan myself, he even carries the 80s revival episodes heβs in. If you want a good breakdown of episodes and tons of useless information check out the Columbophile blog.
>>213418571
Look at the Columbophile blog he breaks down and ranks every episode. I think heβs a little harsh on the 80s-90s episodes but that might just be me because I have a soft spot for them since thatβs when I first saw Columbo.

Itβs quality over quantity honestly. Plus they were made for TV movies so they took a longer time to produce an episode and Peter Falk had other movie obligations. If I recall correctly new episodes only aired once a month.

A fellow connoisseur! I have a hard time here finding other RS fans. Brilliant stuff. I watched it first run and was hooked from the start. The clip you posted and Laura's "itchy" dialog in the next ep were captivating to my young teen brain.
>>213418477 >Hogan's Heroes
I'm pissed I had to sell a bunch of dvds when I had to downsize after losing my apartment in covid. Had the complete series for HH as well as the original run for Columbo. Some collector came by my moving sale and snatched up a lot of my good stuff. Bastard. LOL.

It is very good, a solid recommendation anon. There's someone on yt (Watch It For Days) who makes really long reviews of full episodes including clips that identify repeating supporting actors, locations, props, etc. It's a hoot. Last I checked she'd done the first 3 seasons.
>>213420860
Good list. I don't ever argue with these because it's all a matter of opinion. Plus some of the eps you list are pretty much on all best of lists for Columbo (Port, Friend, Now, Try, etc). One ep that always stands out to is Forgotten Lady. Janet Leigh has to be one of the most sympathetic villains in the series. The ending is unique and very touching imo.

To me it's Culp.
I even watched his TV show with the best dad of America (btw quite confused show to watch some episodes of for those oldschool vibes).
>>213419234
This one is one of my favorite episodes despite it not being the part of the series technically. Some of the episodes clearly were inspired by its elements as well.
>>213422313 >picrel
I find it fascinating how fleshed out she was written and focused on for a character who was there mostly to be an eye candy.
One would think she would be a murderer or crucial element of investigation, but she was just there looking good and kind of smart.

*Columbo examines a door frame while deep in thought and spills cigar ashes on the carpet* >Excuse me, what on earth are you doing? >>Oh, pardon me, sir. Just looking around the scene. >Who the hell are you? >>Uh, Lieutenant Columbo, sir. I'm a detective. Now uh, where did I place my badge...ah, here we are. >I see... >>Mr. Brown, I couldn't help but notice that the room where the victim suffocated to death had wooden doors, doesn't that seem a bit odd to you? >I don't follow, Lieutenant, and quite frankly I have a great deal of work to do on my taxes, and I would rather not have people wandering around my house in the meantime. >>Oh, I understand that, sir. My wife is all about getting our taxes done early, it's a mess around the house. Me? I can't seem to follow any of that gibberish. >Yes, Lieutenant, I wish you luck with all of that. >>And you too, sir.
*Columbo pretends to leave before turning around, much to the dismay of the house owner* >>Just one more thing, I'm terribly sorry about all the mess that I've made here, it seems that I spilled ash all over your candle holder here. Now, let me write you a check to pay for cleaning that. >That won't be necessary. >>Oh, I couldn't just leave this mess here, I'd feel awful about it. Besides, the chief has instructed me to make sure that the department pays for any damages involved with us investigating things. >Well, if you insist, Lieutenant. >>Who shall I make the check out to? >Jonathan Brown Katz. >>Oh, and here I was thinking your last name was Brown. I apologize, Mr. Katz. What kind of name is that anyway? Swedish? >It's Hebrew, Lieutenant.
*Avante-Garde ominous 70s music plays* >>Now isn't that interesting.
>>213424876
yeah, it could have been a pretty standard rote part but the writers (and the actress) did make it more interesting. Same with picrel (though she's the villain rather than a bit supporting role).
>>213426758
One of the better later Columbos. I just wish it had a better actor for the villain. Deirdre was good in her limited role though. The comic relief stuff with the nude models was pretty lame though.
>>213426809
No I think you're thinking of the one with William Shatner as the bad guy (his first appearance on Columbo, his second he's older and plays a radio show host). Previous pic is from Columbo Cries Wolf where Columbo believes a skin magazine publisher has killed his business partner. Kind of similar to Blueprint for Murder, now that I think about it.
>>213427027
Speaking of Columbo Cries Wolf, there's an obvious clue that it was a set up and not a real kidnapping but Columbo didn't identify it.
If the woman was shot in the car, it would have smelled like gunpowder and blood. The chauffeur wouldn't have driven it anywhere. Moreover, forensics would have found blood all over the car floor, not just woman hair, since blood is significantly harder to clean.
>>213418571
the one with the hollywood neetress who's living in the past, rewatching her old films in a dark room. weirdly enough, the twilight zone episode with the woman chasing her past self on a horse is my favorite. I really like that theme in tv I guess
>>213417879
Well if it isnt Sleazy McDouchebag. I hate how he really does seem like a typical baddie
>>213423801 >Murder by the book
To this day i still wonder what is the real incriminatinc evidence? I don't believe a single scrap of note about some story could do him in
>>213427432
I watched the IQ club episode a couple of days ago and I'm still mad about the overpowered magic silencer that somehow limited a pistol to the point where a quiet building full of smart people didn't hear two gunshots from the bottom of the stairs.
>>213428347 >>213430065
Forgotten Lady with Janet Leigh. It took me years to track down a copy of the film she watches (a real movie Janet Leigh made with Donald O'Connor called Walking My Baby Back Home - pic). You've got to check out that pic carefully to see how ridiculously thin yet busty she was. Decent singer and dancer too (check out My Sister Eileen for that).
>>213435847
At least that actress wasn't too bad in her part. The one who plays Lee Grant's stepdaughter in Ransom For a Dead Man make me alternately cringe and laugh with how bad she is.
