Worth if you like Sally Hawkins
>Welcome to Horrorland! here's your complementary teenage girl
>>213426896 (OP)What movies do you recommend in the creepy carnival/circus genre?
>>213427103Werewolf Skin was pretty good
>>213427142Freaks (1932) is a classic.
op's pic, Funhouse (1981) isn't a masterpiece of horror, but it is a masterpiece of comfiness. I really like the first half a lot.
>>213427150haven't seen that one, I'll check it out
>>213427201>I really like the first half a lot.Tobe Hooper has this really bad habit of not knowing wtf he's doing after the first half. Eaten Alive has some scenes stitched together in a really amateurish way during the third act.
>>213427142killer klowns, something wicked this way comes probably but i dont know which adaptations exist. seconding freaks 1932,

๐
>>213427320Yeah Eaten Alive could have used something more..
I can fix Funhouse with a single change though. Trade the freak for the clown that's on the poster. Boom. He was so close.
I still have this one to watch. I'm saving it for October, and I'll find another circus horror I haven't seen yet to make a double feature
>>213427575Nevermind, now I'm seeing that it isn't even really a horror movie. They call it horror on some sites but it doesn't seem to be
The carnival from Child's Play 3 is pretty spooky for seemingly not having any safety regulations.
>>213426979Apparently this guy is gonna be in Bone Temple, as well as Cillian Murphy returning in some way.
>>213428187All the Jimmies are returning
>>213428213I got your "Jimmy" right here
>>213428187I got your "Bone Temple" right here
>>213426896 (OP)someone say carnival?
>>213428942I still haven't seen the remake. It just looks terrible
>>213429135first movie is good
the second one is shit tho
>>213429135It's actually pretty good. But yeah the second one reminds me of Annabelle Creation or something where it's just random non-stop spook/gag setups.
Still I quite like the very final form of Pennywise.
i'm going to say it:
jurassic world rebirth is the best jurassic film since 3
>>213429542Wasn't going to see it in cinema but I'm actually looking forward to checking it out.
I will watch it for she.
need something to really knock my socks off
>>213429593Watch Lowlifes
>>213429593watch anything except lowlifes
>Chucky tv show
>Alien tv show
>Jason tv show
>Pennywise tv show
this shit sucks man, why can't we just have more movies.
>>213430016chucky tv show was great tho, the cliffhanger ending they cancelled the show on is also great because i love unhappy endings
>>213430039I think I'd still prefer more movies. but I'll put it on my maybe list then. tv shows just don't have the same kind of artistry in set pieces that you get in the final act of a film.
>>213427980Thatโs my favorite Chucky death, the close up of him screaming then he falls into the fan, throwing chunks everywhere.
Then in the beginning of Bride heโs only chopped up into like 5 pieces
>Alien Earth is reviewing well
Whats the catch.
>>213430239that's the magic in all of the child's play films. it's not the people getting killed that's the showstopper, it's chucky's pseudo human body getting horrifically mangled. it's genius.
same thing with the hammer dracula films, they're good but the best part is always watching dracula die/get resurrected.
>>213430327probably girlpower stuff.
>>213430363Hasn't it generally been girlpower even since Alien 1?
I mean most of the good Alien movies are about Ripley beating the Alien.
>>213430390yeah but there's she hulk girl power, and then there's she hulk twerking "sorry incels" girl power.
>>213430546Well it's created by Noah Hawley so I am cautiously optimistic. Any Alien fills the spot for me.
>>213426938I liked it.
I thought the foster mom had transferred a catโs soul into Ollie as a โtrial runโ for a human ritual. She says โI havenโt gotten around to stuffing him yet,โ then we find out Ollie canโt speak, wants to eat meat, bangs his fist on windows, and scrawls โbirdโ on a piece of paper. lol
>>213430576cgi is probably the other given. it killed my enjoyment of covenant but xenos are dark and slick so should be able to be shot well if effort is put in. Romulus was mostly practical but did a good job where needed.
>>213430712kek, interesting. what did bird mean anyway, did I miss that?
>>213426896 (OP)saw this a few weeks ago it was great. any other films similar i should what? haven't watched that many old horror films except for the obvious ones like friday, elms street etc.
>>213426938i thought it sucked. talk to me was much much better.
>>213430736The magic trick scene is one of my all time favorites.
Honestly anon if you liked Funhouse you'll find a world of amazing Funhouse-tier films to enjoy. These are just some comfy ones:
>Demons>Alice, Sweet Alice>Black Christmas>The Beyond>Basket CaseAlso if you haven't seen The Evil Dead that's a given.
What's the appeal of horror films
>>213430885>The magic trick sceneyeah that scene was gold. thanks a lot brother, i will download them now. the beyond and alice sweet alice has been on my list forever.
4K UHD torrents came out earlier for both Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3. You did already download them, right?
>>213426896 (OP)Fun movie with nice booba. More people should watch this
>>213430736Here's some 70s horror kino for you to peruse
>>213432408You're missing The Other (1972)
>>213427142Picrel. Also Hellfest. Both movies kind of straddle the line between carnival and haunted attraction. The former has a really memorable kill in it
Not necessarily recommended but in the ballpark:
Freakshow (2007) is a remake Of Freaks. It's from the Asylum but not quite as bad as you'd expect. The bar's pretty low though, but those midget's gotta drink too.
Sideshow (2000) is a little different. Full Moon pictures and Fred Olen Ray, together at last.
>>213432520I've never seen the movie but I've read the book, real creepy shit
>>213430734It's the word.
>>213429623Who's the actress on the poster?
>>213432570The movie is a slow burn at first, you'd think it was about rural life. But it turns nasty by degrees into full blown horror. Creepy stuff.
>>213426920film name sir pls
For such a generic design, why does it feel sorta 'off'?
>>213432697White Coalburner
>>213433036>jason has been dormant for almost two decades thanks to a lawsuit>lawsuit finally settles>announce a new jason for the modern audience>looks like a 12 year old made itJasonbros not like thisโฆ
Halloween II > The Devil's Rejects > The Lords of Salem > Halloween > The Haunted World of El Superbeasto > House of 1000 Corpses > 3 From Hell > The Munsters > 31
>>213426938I feel like these youtubers are desperate to be taken seriously and that's what the tone of their films stems from, samesies with Peele who wants to shake the comedian stink off him.
>>213430016I liked the Chucky show more than any of the movies, it's great. Lexy a ____
>>213433036Because it's not a Jason that actually exists in any corporeal form and I doubt he'll look like this when 500 years from now they make another movie. The mask looks weird on his head because it's a crappy drawing. It's homunculus fortnite jasum, a hodgepodge of other designs to produce a recognisable yet indistinct version of the character.
>>213433036It kinda feels like it was made with AI the more I look at it. I'm not an anti-AI fag, but that's just what it looks like. Also the fact that they couldn't even whip up some new art for this campaign is so goddamn lazy. They're still using this same thing that just looks like a concept mockup with an Angry Orchard sign plastered over it, lol. Jason even looks like he doesn't really want to be there.
>>213433036Here is the trailer for the short film
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-6jLBbg6PU
Not sure why they didn't just make a new movie (how expensive could it be to make a F13 movie?) instead of bringing him back to be used as a corporate marketing gimmick for a cider brand.
>>213433569>rating Lords of Salem that highBased.
What would happen if I put the stone hand on my pp?
>>213433675They've supposedly got a new movie (and vidya) in the works. Just not gonna be called Friday the 13th I guess, it'll be Jason something something.
>>213433569I'm not a big fan of RZ but Lords of Salem was cool and I appreciate him making his wife get naked in his movies
>>213423960Some times you can get away with it, but I got a couple of warnings when doing it, so proceed with that in mind.
>>213424460Yes
>>213433639I have no idea why they needed to draw up concept art for what is just a man in a mask. It's not like Freddy where they need it specifically to look like Englund so have to resort of art of the character. Literally anybody can model for photos of Jason to put on merch, if they don't have access to the old movie material for lawsuit reasons.
>>213433036Because it looks like a homeless drunk wearing a hockey mask.
>>213433700You'd turn into one of these faggots lol.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Dc0qFHcL36sANWSD
>>213433900Well, I get why they had to make the mask look familiar but distinct (although it looks like shit) because of legal reasons. But yeah why they're still using this concept art is beyond me. Spend a little money on some new art. Jason lurking behind the apple tree in the artwork, or smashing through a bunch of apples, anything.
>>213434362Yeah they did some designs utilizing the mask but the actual standee is so boring
>>213432762All Hollow's Eve a.k.a. Terrifier Minus One

this movie is not scary at all
>>213432697Canadian actress Amanda Fix
I've never watched any of these slop films like Pulse, All Hallows' Eve, Talk To Me. It's all the same old shit. They are so boring and vapid.
>>213429591And to think that she got a boob reduction years ago
>>213433569>I feel like these youtubers are desperate to be taken seriously and that's what the tone of their films stems fromI prefer them trying to make "serious" horror. So many YouTubers hide behind lame humor and "it's supposed to be bad LOL".
>samesies with Peele who wants to shake the comedian stink off himThere's plenty of comedy in Peele's horror films, though.
>>213430734The name of the kidnapped host kid was Connor Bird... Probably got something to do with that
how was the scream tv series?
This has such a cool fucking cold opening. Just a girl at an insane asylum kicking the shit out of some fat nurse. How did I not remember that part? Anything other horror have cool openings? Iโm racking my brain, but nothing comes to mind.
>>213436362sheโs cute eh?
>>213436841You ever see those highschool teen dramas like One Tree Hill and 90210? It's that but with some murder sprinkled in so if that sounds like something you'd enjoy go for it

>>213436998ngl i just wanted to watch it cause the best girl from reacher is the main character but I think I'll pass.
>>213437168>the best girl from reacherBased.
>>213436961Scream has the best cold open ever and it's not even close. It could have been an amazing standalone short film.
>>213437466Retarded me posted the wrong pic.
>>213437466scream? like the whole thing with the drew barrymore horror pop quiz call and the dead boyfriend scream? hmm thanks Iโll have to rewatch it. I donโt remember it super well and itโs been a long ass while.
>>213437715Yes, that Drew Barrymore intro that bamboozled normies back then.
>>213436347Things people who have no capacity for higher thought say.
>>213438084>>213437715the movie marketing heavily sold drew barrymore too. it was a big switcheroo.
That final scene in Caveat with the freaky undead woman about to btfo the main antagonist and him screaming like a faggot is fucking hilarious.
>>213430016An alien movie came out last year and I believe a sequel is in the works.
>>213430327Xenomorphs are just background filler for trite drama about modern day, real life social issues.
>>213433036It's the hair on the sides of the head. Makes him look like Peter Boyle in a mask
>>213439151its the same modern day issues from the 70s
>>213438227sounds like me
horror movie where the protagonist girl is kinda homely looking and the killer/other characters taunt her for being an uggo?
>>213428187He's in the sequel as the main antagonist since he's the kid who's dad was the insane priest which corrupted his worldview at the beginning of the movie (see upside down crucifix that he kept with him like his father asked for him). Cillian is back for the third installment. Jimmy's going to die near the end of 2 100%, Cillian will likely but but hopefully not die at the end of 3.
>>213431565based 4k town crier
>>213436841Awful. Its Scream in name only, doesn't even have the mask or voice and its plot barely involves meta movie commentary
>>213439888>>213436841>>213436998Remember that there is actually a 2nd incarnation of the show unrelated to the first 2 seasons that DOES bring back the mask and voice but its still just as bad.
>>213439826Technically, Excision
>>213439933This is the one where for some reason the Ghostface recreates kills from the movies even though Scream (and Stab) don't exist in the universe.
>>213439933some rebuilding black wallstreet studio got ahold of it. I'm kinda interested in what they did with the show
>MTV announced that they were rebooting the series with the third season, with a new cast and setting. As part of the reboot process, it was revealed that Brett Matthews would be serving as the main showrunner. In addition, Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty would be added as executive producers for the series under Flavor Unit Entertainment.[7][8] RJ Cyler, C. J. Wallace, Tyga, Keke Palmer, Jessica Sula, Giorgia Whigham, Giullian Yao Gioiello and Tyler Posey starred in the rebooted third season. In June 2019, it was announced that the series would be moving to VH1 ahead of the premiere of the third season.[9] The season, subtitled Resurrection, premiered on July 8, 2019.[10]
>>213439888They should really be making meta tv commentary, which they'd have lots of free material for. Cliffhangers, monster of the week episode etc
>>213440002Exactly. They like passively mention it in the first episode about horror on tv but the actual plot revolves around something else entirely.
>it's been 10 years since the scream tv series
Time; you thought I threw it all away
>>213440002>>213440072They could genuinely milk that forever, just get some TV troper with a comedy background
You could even do crossover episodes where the killer demands visiting actors operate in character, or side villains that just happen to imitate a trope
If you wanted to be deeply edgy you could open it on a talking head psychiatrist telling everyone the shooter always tries to make the timing of the shooting make the news and talking about the shooting on the news makes mass shootings contagion effects take hold, because people imitate what they see on TV, and then just have ghostface stab him. That way you have ghostface and other people can be killers or have died with secrets before this ghostface appears. It's already canonically a batshit town that has a disproportionate predisposition to think the killer on the loose is a joke, so you could get really wild with decoy kills that are unrelated to ghostface, and do more of the 100 kids will show up in the costume decoys too, along with having people stage their not media savvy murder as a ghostface kill and being found out
>>213427097Based. That's one of my comfort films. It's so much better than the first one.

Evening brightening my pic up to match, I can see there's some subtle, general color differences, assuming that's not more differences in software playback settings. I'm happy with my BU disc
>>213443241Shouldn't be much different between UHD releases unless someone seriously bit starves one. Horror movies get re-released so often for the popular classics. I think Halloween is on its 3rd UHD release already.
>>213426938It was decent. Sally Hawkins is cute and based always.
Decently gnarly scenes (the knife and the kitch counter come to mind) and interesting horror ideas. The actual horror plot is okay-ish, although pretty surface level with a fair amount of hand-waved shit, but the drama-plot isn't uninteresting.
It's a solid 7-7.5/10 for me.

>>213426896 (OP)Elizabeth Berridge was a qt in this. she somehow looked both 15 and 30 at the same time. too bad she didnt do more horror she made a good final girl, she became more known for comedy in the 90s (The Powers That Be was a funny show and she was the best part of it, same with The John Larroquette Show, she was the funniest character on that as well)

just saw Weapons (2025), what did I think of it?
>>213445068You think you should give me 20 dollars
>>213445065agreed she's super cute. also having a single topless scene right out of the gate is a kino choice. even though it was a nod to Halloween. too many films are predictable with nudity, like I watched Screamboat and about half way through had a predictable actress do a topless scene at a predictable time and then predictably getting killed right afterwards.
>>213444069Thanks, it's on the list. Spanish movies are usually decent
Gonna watch Bring Her Back because I can't remember what the name of the movie those people made before I was meant to watch
I don't think I'm going to be able to find enough decent films for my yearly October binge this year, I feel like I've seen most good to decent horror films at this stage.
>>213445776Bring Her Back is a better film anyway
>>213445560you could check out Ghostwatch, top tier comfy found footage with exorcist-type stuff going on.
Conjuring 2 is about possession as well from memory.
>>213443649I'm 55 minutes in and this film is beautiful, the lighting especially is gorgeous. A bit heavy on all the horror/cop tropes but every aspect of it is just so damn well done. Thanks for the rec.
>>213444903she's dangerous
>>213444353Malatesta's Carnival of Blood.
NOT for the faint of heart!
>>213445968yep, i love it. its definitely more of a thriller than a horror though.
>>213436182>>213444903>>213447111She's got quite the oral fixation, eh?
>>213447173Apparently so!
Dead By Deadlight sale on steam
So I saw this got released on some sites today. How bad is it?
>>213447653eh. maybe when it's free
>>213447653It's in it's buggiest most unbalanced state right now. I wouldn't bother, try again in October which should have a health update after the september content
>>213430016aside from pennywise those guys all have like 10 movies each

Donโt come back soifag.

>>213448127Yeah, I prefer /horror. You guys here have no taste.
>>213447780I enjoyed the movies on this list and so did my wifeโs boyfriend though?
>>213447827Yes because she has a type of everyday quality and an innate exhibitionist yearning
>>213448076Never mind that shitty list.
BTW this creature
>>213448127 is reviled, infamous Canadian (illegal Indian immigrant actually) Negro Piss Man
>>213444247Yes, the mallet is in the book. It's actually a roque mallet and not a croquet mallet so while it does have a somewhat silly visual connotation it could be used to murder someone. It was the right decision to change it for a movie though, as King writing is very regional and while you can put down a book to look something up you can't stop the movie in the theatre. Funnily enough it's the opposite case for Misery, where in the film she uses the hammer to break his foot, but hacks his foot off with an axe in the book.
>>213444316I mean if Kubrick directed the miniseries script and Mick Garris directed Kubrick's script the Kubrick one would still be lightyears better. And I see Carrie as a director's cut of the book essentially because he had to add all the epistolary stuff to pad the story out to get it sold as a novel. But all the meat is there, which is why King loves the Carrie movie so much unlike Kubrick's movie.
>>213448462Hello anti-Pissman
>>213448501i know first hand that a croquet mallet can break bones and thus kill someone. it's just ridiculous either way, use a fucking axe.
>>213427103Why is that boy's shirt so big? Is he a gang member?
>>213445801>>213445776That was pretty fun, someone tell me the other one
the highly specific death you need for it to work seems a bit off though. yes it's good lead up to have the creepy kid in the empty pool shots, so it's not a complete ass pull it has to be in the pool, and yes, maybe the mom only wants a girl to replace Cathy so taking the brother in back to drown him wouldn't fulfill the need for a dress up doll she has, but the highly specific death thing doesn't seem to extend to the mom cracking the kid one so she's bleeding and unconscious when she drowns so is it just location specific?
Likewise did original cathy get killed by original oli and if so, where's oli? Or is it just he's oli because nobody would be surprised if she had an oli staying there
>>213448800I am not him. I am just calling you that.
>>213448501>when first girl is best girlHow did the women peak in the first 20 minutes of the franchise?
>>213448593>anti-PissmanWtf? lol. Talk about a loser.
>>213442043I feel like downloading this movie and editing out all the boring non Halloween scenes. It might be really short but I just want that playing on a loop in October.
>>213449060i'd like to see a storyboard or something of that, i think halloween3 is a pretty tight film but i'm not opposed to remixes
>>213449095I need to rewatch it but I know I"ll be cutting out any scene with those corporate guys.
>>213449057Thatโs just the anon that calls everyone Pissman.
>>213448925I assumed she'd made those rules up herself. It didn't work right the first time so she's trying to get more specific, hoping that's the key. Could be the specificity was laid out in the videos, and I've just forgotten.
>>213448076it's just the recurring shitpost of the month.
>>213449234Yeah I know. He is just as annoying if not more.
>>213448990It made no sense for Pamela to kill her as well. I wonder how much of the film was made up as it went along because it's clearly a man (Savini) that kills her and she spends the entire scene talking about how she LOVES children and it's her dream to work with children, so it made no sense for the neglectful teen killer to want to kill her. Justice for best girl, who a script revision would have saved.
>>213449245I assume it was in the video but it's not in the subtitled description of the process because it's just like eat the old body and straight to regurgitate into the new one but they at different point do seemingly hang the new body, so I assume they were bringing back someone who was hung or a suicide Maybe the guys in the video were more prepared like with the cookery shows that tell you they prepared this part yesterday, but yeah maybe it was just they died near that specific tree and method means nothing
>>213444247ya I heard this too. I remember there was some interview where he actually wrote a draft for them and they flat out rejected it and did their own. seems insane. but what do I know. maybe his screen play was shit.
>>213444316The ending of The Mist is also original to the film. Though to King's credit he admitted the movie ending was better.
>>213449502>it makes no sense for someone who kills all the worker at a camp to kill a worker hired to work at the campah yes. i see now.
>>213449868I put off reading IT for so long because I heard about his fucked ending. Itโs still fucked, but the rest of the book is fine. That fucker must be just constantly high out of his fucking mind to write the shit he does.
>>213449916How was it? What did your wifeโs boyfriend think?
>>213449899A lack of good girls like Annie was the exact reason that Jason died. She'd never have fucked and sucked like those others. Wait, are you meaning to tell me that this deranged, bloodthirsty serial killer who speaks in the voice of her dead son is not serious about rehabilitating the reputation of Camp Crystal Lake and fostering good standards of child safety among counselors so that no child ever gets killed again???
>>213449916How does it fare in comparison with Barbarian?
>>213450120>How does it fare in comparison with Barbarian?they're very different imo, Weapons felt like a blend of Prisoners and The Empty Man to me.
>>213447821Yeah and it's run by the people who made naughty bear who still are trying to figure out how to make volumetric lighting in unreal engine
>>213447653That garbage is only alive because of the sheer incompetence of everyone else in the genre. It's not even a good game but the devs keep effortfagging so it survives. Friday the 13th was a thousand times better as a game but the devs neglected it and fostered a horrible relationship with the playerbase. Same case with Evil Dead, great game that the devs let die. I swear, the instant a non retarded company makes a game that they don't immediately strangle, the DBD playerbase will die overnight.
>>213450714I bought it with some expansion pack stuff that had Michael Myers and some others a while back but couldn't really get into playing as the killer and didn't want to be the victim so I stopped playing after a couple of minutes and never really touched it again.

I love horror tv shows so much.
>>213447698Its the best of the World era films and has some really good sequences bogged down by mediocre human characters
>>213441090that was pretty comfy, rip crazy henry i liked him
>>213452062This is what happens when you cast a teen show and wait 3 years between seasons.
>>213452121>best of the World era filmsSeriously? Somehow I have doubt. First Jurassic World was the best out of the 3 that I saw.
>>213452284It is called le Wall.
>>213452177pissman do you class your mother as a roastie? do you walk past images of her in the hallway and say "mom you were walled at 18"

>>213452381theres more billionaires that use young actors for blood infusions now
>>213452362Calm down, Nancy.
>>213452333Rebirth has better dinosaur action sequences and is just visually better thanks to Edwards at the helm.
>>213452362Shit like this is legit what roasties have messaged me on tiktok after I dissed the frick out of dem
>>213452486so is the answer yes or no, you're very avoidant.
>>213452284This. Especially if you're doing the whole timeless ageless vampire thing and then have to explain why your vampire has aged a thousand vampire years in three seasons
>>213452362I would actually assume he does. You see a lot of autists in the news for familial homicide.
Targets (1968)
>>213452537pic unrelated, boreanaz is immortal
>>213452574Boreanaz by the spin off series looks way older, and he was on the upper end of twink when Buffy started. It's a real problem because you need the pretty boy look for the eternal youth thing, but you have like maybe five years before they look like this dude is a man, nobody is believing he graduated two years ago
To be fair to Buffy, they did eventually send him to a hell dimension but most of the aging was done before his 1000s of years there, so it does kind of give the impression just being near a slayer was sucking the life out of him in a way literal hell did not
>>213452699by Angel he just looked kinda bulked up not older. He was still lookin good by Bones for like a decade.
>>213452537Boreanz and Marsters fucking held shit down for how many years? 8 or 9? Best vamp actors.
>>213452725I'm not saying he doesn't look good, but by Angel or Bones if he tried to pass himself off as first time college student age to tutor my daughter, I would think that's a different kind of vampire, but when Buffy started that was at least plausible
