Its very funny to read the timeline of the writing, according to some interviews he had Dreams of Spring outlined 10years ago and so.
I think the his most of footwork is already done for the books - he just cant sit down and actually put it out. In a way its kinda refreshing to see someone struggle with writing like that, but goddamn, he only needs to finish it. There's an army of editors waiting to work with him.
