I feel like they're trying to slowly make the killers in Dexter Resurrection a lot more like the killers in the books. In the original series all of the killers (except for Travis Marshall) were fairly realistic, but now they're making the plot about Prater's gathering, which reminds me a lot of this satanic cult that Dexter goes up against in the books.

Dexter's formula is so effortlessly perfect and entertaining that it's very difficult to mess shit up. That's why the series usually starts sucking when it tries to brute force some long story arcs with the aim of reaching a climax/conclusion. It's built for quick relief with slow but gradual plot development; not long and overly drawn out arcs.

I definitely got cannibal vibes from the scene where he’s watching his interview, so there’s maybe something to it, but it also just seems underwhelming. Dexter has dealt with cannibals before, and having Prater be a cannibal isn’t super interesting. I like the idea that he’s an unrepentant Satanist, that seems like the most interesting path for the character.
