This humor worked in gardians of the galaxy because it fit his character and was comical because nobody understands earth culture. What ruined it going forward was when every hero in the marvel universe used quippy jokes like Iron Man and Gardians. Like Thor and Hulk were butchered by it.

yeah the success of GotG made them write their stories to be complete jokes rather than peppering some jokes and humor into the movie. The first Spiderman movie had good humor here and there, it didn't have LE RANDOM SCREAMING GOAT like in Thor.
