The way to play the game is track the movement of which stick is falling with your peripheral vision while keeping your field of view centered so you can detect all sticks. Yes this also involves 'looking' at the base of the sticks. There is no successful strategy that does not involve not looking at the sticks.

The only discernable difference between Jackie's version is that the sticks are positioned much lower than all the other examples which makes it much harder since it diminishes the reaction window.
It's not more "fair" it's more unfair than the others whicj actually look doable given the plyers can actually look up at the sticks (which is why they're succeeding contrary to your nonsensical jeet explanations).

All these examples are a good 10 inches higher than the one Jackie is doing.

Whereas all the other examples of the younger people doing it have the bottom of the sticks reach at most the top of the zoomer's hair, lowest maybe the very top part of his forehead.

Sticks should be hanging at eye level. Having them higher than eye level gives you way more time to react and much better field of view.
