"You got me, partner"
This is simultaneously the saddest and the funniest death scene.

I would re-enact scenes from the mask and no one knew what I was referencing.

What age demographic were you dealing with, in particular? The Mask was a great hit in 1994, and Jim Carrey was extremely well-known throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. He's even relevant again due to the new Sonic movies. Has The Mask mostly faded out of the collective consciousness of current popular culture?

You're welcome, partner! Get ready for a bumpy but fun ride on the way to the saloon.

Is there even an agreed upon canon of movies anymore? We're living in a globalized world. Almost no one in the West watched anime in the 1990s for one.

Except the late 1990s Pokémon days, but that and other very early exports are another story, and mostly for kids by that stage. Speed Racer was even earlier, of course, but it was localized enough that it wasn't thought of so widely as Japanese.

I could have sworn that he said at some point during this scene, "I can't see," while pretending to die. Did this get memory-holed, via the Mandela Effect?

It was.in elementary school while the vhs was out. I don't know how many months it takes to go from theaters to home video but nobody had any idea what I was even talking about.

Easily one of the very best scenes in that movie.
