The male MC's acting was bad or maybe the script was bad. He rarely speaks. Even if he's supposed have a stoic personality, it looks very awkward for the character he's playing.

MC and her sister aren't good people. Although the MC did try to warn a motorist trying to photograph the monster, they didn't warn anyone in town else despite the mass deaths happening, deciding instead to keep it as much of a secret as possible in order photograph the creature and profit from it themselves. It's almost like they have a sense of ownership over the monster just because it hung around in their ranch a few times.

Definitely felt like the script was screwing the MC over. I enjoyed the film in any case, even though the one 'techy' guy that they bought all the camera equipment from was overplaying his role.

Which I also appreciate. It's also a horror film, so having 'perfect' people feels out of place unless it's a popcorn horror flick chock full of the usual archetypes where you expect everyone to die anyways.

Lovecraftian is cosmic horror. As in there is a giant fucking civilization of entities beyond your comprehension in another dimension and all that seperates you from them is a thin wall. The creatures slowly seep thru and you are the only one that sees them. No one else does... they say you are crazy. Are you crazy? Have you been eating? Did you get enough sleep? Maybe you.... but then you see another one. That cant be coincidence are there more? Where are they? Can they be killed? Can they be stopped?

In cosmic horror you usually cant kill them, or if you can there is too many of them for that to be a viable solution. In lovecraftian horror the solution is always the same. Seal your world off from these beings, lock them out forever.
