This. They were showing season 6 episodes on comedy central right before the episode aired. What a stark contrast that was compared to newer episodes. Look at episodes from that era, Asspin, Cartmanland, Awesome-O, Towelie. They were much more self contained except for the one right after 9/11. Even the one with Jared from subway aged like wine because of his later downfall in life.
