Why didn't they just apologize to their clientele, take a loss, and promise not to do it again?

Them duping everything on the market and selling them at a discount is "taking a loss". Keep in mind they were insolvent on paper, so they could go bust the moment market moved down anyway.

a money addict is no different from a heroin addict
>oh but this man lost his family
fuck you got mine
>you stole from your own mother
fuck you got mine
>you're destroying the world
fuck you got mine

Also everyone they ended up selling to were people they had been selling to for ages and the products weren't fundamentally different so those people were going to wreck regardless of what the firm did with the last shit they needed to get rid of to stay alive. There was no "yeah sorry about that" option, everyone was going to get nuked within the next few days.

Because the loss was bigger than the current market capitalization of their entire company. Did you even watch the movie?

The movie told me this is normal and happens n ns in cycles and I don't want commies to take over so I'd bail them out again if I could
