What's your favorite episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine?
I hate to be cliche but it's gotta be Pale Moonlight.
>>213484542 (OP)So many great episodes. Iโll throw in another cliche.
I dont know if I can call it my favorite but I watched Return to Grace in particular many, many times...

I think Melora is my least favorite DS9 episode. Either that or one of the Dax ones for sure.
The one where Kira looks like a cardassian girl and gets gaslit into believing she was always one undercover as a spy. The lesson they all learn at the end of the episode is to never trust Garak.

The one where Dukat starts a cult, impregnates a follower, and tries to convince everyone it was immaculate conception

>>213485981Section 31 is a great example of this. In DS9 it's left ambiguous how powerful they are or how close they are to Starfleet, and they're unequivocally nefarious. Bashir is fascinated by it but is also disgusted and wants to expose them. In STD and beyond Section 31 is just another special ops space ninja force that makes no sense as an official, open Starfleet group, and Kurtzman glorifies them because he thinks they're badass and tried to make his own Borderlands ripoff with them.
I know it's Boomer bait, but I love Far Beyond the Stars. Also the followup in Season 7 where Benny is in the asylum writing the DS9 script on the walls while Damar tries to make him stop.

>>213492305The hair style is pre Seven.
>>213485990Didn't you know? This isn't really a Trek thread. It's a bullying and gatekeeping thread. Anyone who arrives that doesn't conform to their Borg-like opinion gets harassed. Then they complain when it happens to them. If they want to know why this is happening to them, they only have to look in the mirror, and have a teaspoon of self-awareness. But, as they have demonstrated repeatedly, that's completely beyond them. It'd be pitiable, if they weren't such gigantic asshats.
>>213485834It lacks formula. It lacks grace. It lacks strict adherence to the spirit of the franchise. It lacks nuance. It lacks the ability to pull its own head out of its own ass and to not "insist upon itself". It wanted to be the series to do all sorts of "Trek firsts" that it became less about the story and more about the "accomplishments" against a thin veneer of Trek coat of paint. It wanted a tranny so badly, it invented a new kind of symbiotic alien to facilitate when there were already other, better options. The new writers don't pay attention to the material.
>>213486415That's it! Thank you. I was trying to figure out what it was about DS9 that annoyed me so much, but you've figured it out. After I gave up on the show & scanned through IMDB for top-rated episodes, to try to find something, anything, to enjoy about the show, I was distressed to find they were mostly character-heavy, something that only a fervent viewer would care about. That, and the "Dominion War" or whatever in seasons 6 & 7. I skipped those completely. I'm sick of military sci-fi.

>>213486210The movie didn't do them any favours. They went deep off the wacky and kooky deep end.
Issue with Dukat's writing is that he became flanderized, they should have kept him as just a patriot who thinks might makes right, because that is literally how "bad guys" in history actually mostly act, especially on nationalist levels. Did the British Empire actually think they were bad guys? no, of course not.
Also I think Dukat should have pulled the "Uhh, you do realize the death rate on Bajor wasn't actually bad" card, that would have been an interesting topic, especially as this was the 1990s, and Eastern European countries like the Baltics and Ukraine larped like they were massive victims of the USSR when in reality they were the richest and most powerful regions in it. Which would have been an interesting topic to tackle.
Another point is that before the occupation, Bajor was quite literally a caste based slave society, which again, plays well into the Post-Soviet narrative at the time, as most Eastern Euro countries were fucking absolute shitholes before the USSR forced the to modernize.
It's a far more interesting take on colonialism than just "colonizer was 100% evil and bad satan hitler man"
>>213492663That's more a testament to your pettiness than anything else. And why do you think I'm seething? I'm just having fun here, talking about Trek and Trekkers. Any seething you think you notice is little more than projection.

>>213485981It's pretty obvious NuTrek was designed first as a mass effect show, then hamfisted back into the Star Trek IP when they didn't get their mitts on the Mass Effect IP.
Watch S1/2 of Disco and S1 of Picard, and you can see clearly that these shows are Mass Effect, even in the ship, uniform, alien designs, orange hologam displays and general aesthetics (space being purple nebula etc).
It's also CLEARLY written by Tumblrites that don't actually get Trek's politics and jerk off over the Democrats. Stacey Abrams president of earth, all the actual Trans/non binary shit in there, the jerking off relentlessly over spock and shipping him with everyone.
Don't even get me started on Section 31 in Nu Trek. DS9 should have made it clear that it was just a faction within Star Trek intelligence of fanatics covered for by Ross.

It took a degree of out of the box thinking, some unorthodox resourcefulness and patience to get him back up to snuff. That's exactly the sort of thing you'd think a Tal'Shiar/Obsidian Order/Section 31 operative would respond to. Nog would have, and should have, been absolute catnip to Garak.

>>213493474That is just the first lesson anon.
Next lessons are how to weaponize it, mold it into a perfect tool and use it to press it as an advantage.
Just like he taught Bashir how to be way more cynical so that Bashir was able to pick up all the subtle small details and clues. A more optimistic and less suspicious Bashir would never had been Section 31 bait nor able to figure out that Sloan had actually survived his mix up with the Tal Shiar

>>213485834A good story is always a catalyst that allows you to showcase a character, or a societal dilemma, or to examine a scifi concept.
In NuTrek, most stories are like an rpg-session. You have characters and then you play out a situation they are confronted with and this is all the episode is about. Characters A, B, X and Y are in an alien prison. How do they get out? Character B searches for a tool, he finds an exit. Character Y encounters an alien and fights it, wins and obtains an item that allows them to go through the exit. Meanwhile character X makes a funny joke. Wow, we had characters that saved the day through collaboration and we also had a fun space adventure, isn't that fun?
In a good episode, the imprisonment would merely be an instrument to force characters to cooperate that usually do not. Or one character is deeply agitated by imprisonment, or the characters used to be a unethichal prison guard. The prison is actually a means for the aliens to preserve themselves. Or we see how imprisonment changes our characters for the worst. How they start out idealistic and then have to play by the ruthless rules. Or we get to see other imprisoned aliens to serve that role. The prison is a catalyst for the characters and not just a location in a adventure game.

>>213493636No, that comparison doesn't work and is stupid because the SS wasn't a covert operative group, they were OVERT. The whole thing that makes an intelligence operations outfit work is that none of the members have notoriety. Because if they did, they wouldn't be capable of operating COVERTLY. They have to function in secrecy, and that requires having people who blend in. Just like how Garak.
>>213492935Holy shit now you're conversing with the residents who dwell in your head?
You need to seek immediate help.
>>213494054>>213494107There also is a fan theory that keiko was giving hints to O'brein in the show that she was okay with him and kira going further.
>>213491180Weak screen presence.
for me it's the very long night of londo mollari
>>213484659Im currently watching the DS9 episode where this guy is rude to Bashir and then ruins his life
>>213494438no enoguh people were rude to bashir maybe if they were he wouldn't be so insufferable
>>213494387never play cards with a man that has tentacles for genitalia

>Babylon 5
>Farscape
do you even need anything else? stargate is way too mixed in quality that i cant recommend it at all.
>>213495015sg1 has a certain something that makes it worth it for me, mainly something completely different to take a break between the ones you listed, also while they make quite a few star trek references I always like this one
Daniel Jackson first time commanding one of the battle cruisers
>ready weapons>uh weapons are always ready sir, I just press this button here
>>213492303I haven't watched DS9 in a while but that will be solved by the GREAT /trek/ DS9 WATCHTHROUGH
>>213495081I dunno. I'm so mixed on SG1. I like the idea but I just hate that 80% of the show is the team in a canadian forest doing the exact same thing the last episode. I never felt like it had anything worthwhile to say or show, and then every Goa'uld kept getting one-up'd by another and then the fucking Ori bullshit that sucked ass and so on. Maybe I need to give it a shot again but it just felt so hollow and pointless of a show, but I also haven't seen it in like 15 years so my memory might be fooling me.
>>213495134Where does this happen? I want to watch it with the gang too.
>>213495137Its basically Dragonball but with P-90's
>>213495137its not for everyone probably helps that I watched it while it aired, I dropped it too then came back to it many many years later and finished it, its worth it imo but I can understand just getting annoyed, once O'Neill stops being a regular it does go down hill
>>213495163Join us weeknights at 10pm EST. We're watching on the Heroes and Icons channel, it's included in cable packages and for free over the air.
>>213495163/trek/
We watch on that H&I channel that shows all classic Trek on a daily rotation. They show 1 episode per day, so far we're on S1 E3.
DS9 comes on at 10pm EST.
>>213495309Well, you can always just watch the daily episode scheduled and then discuss it with us in the following 24 hour interval, anon.
Next up is Babel
>>213495015Stargate SG 1, but only Season 1
Agter that the sci fi just becomes a set dressing
>>213495309use a vpn and you can watch it live streaming, I'm aus and thats what I do
>>213495015VOY, for one.
BSG (new and old, both flawed but still worthwhile)
Legend of the Galactic Heroes (anime but absolutely rock fucking solid, will impress anyone on a first viewing)
Red Dwarf is absolutely worth watching
>>213495015The Expanse. Battlestar Galactica.
And if one of you fucking people think to say LEXX, you're going in the airlock.
>>213495336>BabelCLOSE THE REVERSE HARBOR!
SIMPLE HESITATION!
>>213495429Red Dwarf is boring
>>213485730>>213485834I don't care much for quirky characters saving the universe for the trillionth time.
DS9 is the polar opposite where many episodes have a mundane cozy setting but are never uninteresting
>>213495429>VOYfound the retard
>>213495792We don't sign our posts here
House of quark very fucking obviously no verification required
>>213484542 (OP)hey, that's harriman grey!
>>213495972You shouldn't be so surprised that he did that considering /trek/ general has a tripe fag
>>213496121Only cuckolds, retards and brainlets enjoy, let alone watch VOY.

>>213496542Would you rather I say gay doctor? Everything i said is true
>>213496592Your pagh is rancid, child
>>213496625Also a forced and retarded plot point
I suppose you'd prefer meta self-aware "humor" and strong black kweens of Lower Standards
>>213496510you think bashir was meant to be comedic? how odd
>>213496744comedic and gay
>>213496760he was neither, he was hitting on jadzia like a horny puppy from episode 1, and he was in no way a comedy relief type character that would be the ferengi
>>213496592>sisko sounds like he's cryingwhat? have you ever watched ds9, ever?
>>213496510>HECKIN "SOUNDS LIKE HE'S CRYING" BLACK CAPTAINItโs called passion, retard!
>>213496844I didn't say he was the comedic relief type. I said he was supposed to be funny.
This guy is a faggot and you are an idiot.
>>213496869Yes, his "anger" sounds like he is going ro burat into tears at any moment
>>213496910Don't sign your posts
>>213496910I'm trying to figure out what he meant and the only ting I can come up with is far beyond the stars with bennys breakdown, so one scene in one episode in season 6 that isn't even sisko
>>213496844He stalked jadzia back to her quarters after she told him to go away in the first season episode Dax
>>213496928he is constantly after various girls and fucks most of them, irl the actor impregnated nana vistor, so idk what you mean, you just might be a faggot yourself trying to project.
>>213496945Heโs just too retarded to appreciate the delightfully eccentric acting style of Avery Brooks
Did Sisko even know what the prime directive is?
>>213496960thats what I mean he later has a long relasionship with dabo slut and still is hitting on jadzia and of course eventually ends up with ezri, I really have no idea what that anon means I suspect he's never watched ds9
>>213496973He looks like a faggot and therefore is a faggot. It doesn't matter that 'his character' gets laid, that is just you being autistic
>>213496928I'm all for letting typos go but "he is going ro burat into tears" sounds like a fighting style in a martial arts movie or some anime
>>213497035>you being retarded>both the character and the actor are straight and fuck multiple women are you absolutely sure you aren't the autistic one? or maybe just a closeted fag?
>>213497005the only person Bashir had a long relationship with is O'Brien
>>213496991oh he knew alright, but Voyager made a brief stop at ds9 before heading out and him and Insaneway had a private conversation, a certain understanding was reached
>>213497094>thing literally happens>can't see thing figurativelyMaybe you are not autistic, maybe you just have a Celsius IQ
the dude talks gay to
>>213497116you mean friendship I've heard thats something that a faggot can't understand, so your confusion is expected.
>>213497165friendship is a relationship you fucking retard
>>213497154>I like to make up headcanon that is directly contradicted by the show, and even real life with the actors>n-no you just can't see things the way I doyea that sounds like classic tranny logic
>>213497116>O'Brien is a top and Bashir is a bottomI change my mind. It all makes sense now
>>213497005For me, it's Aluura.
Dibs, niggers.
>>213497176are you just desperate for an argument?
>>213497200there's nothing to argue. i'm right and you're wrong. you confused Bashir and fucking Rom for fuck's sake I'm pretty sure you never even watched DS9.
>>213497200Ah, I see you've noticed our "EU hours always looking for a contentious argument" anon. a true /trek/ staple.
>>213497179There you are again, stuck being in the literal world. Can you imagine an apple in your hand? No, it doesn't matter that there is literally no apple in your hand.
>>213497195oh come on she's nothing compared to leeta and her considerable assets
the whole point of Bashir is that he's a desperate for pussy autismo that no one wants. one time he tried to groom a fucking retard and even she ultimately rejected him.
>>213497214so you are just looking for a fight? why not head on over to some capeshit threads, its never ending there, this attempt however is retarded, the character isn't gay the actor isn't gay, you on the other hand are really fucking gay and boring, last (you)
>>213484542 (OP)Ick a thread started by the tripfag. I'm not telling you my favorite anything faggot.
>>213497267>so you are just looking for a fight?no. there's nothing to fight about. i stated a fact about the show and you're losing your mind. nothing to do with me.
>>213497234lol stupid tranny, you could've tried to pick an argument that had some weight to it, as it stands this might be the dumbest hill you've tried to die on so far. But hey at least your dead.
>>213497266he's constantly hooking up with every slut on the station what a dumb thing to say
>>213497238Leeta is probably the worst character of DS9. Ira and his obsession with her was retarded.
>>213497310he literally cries about how he's lonely
>>213497319no he doesn't ever, what are you talking about?
>>213497290You are literally retarded if you can't understand. Your pride is your biggest fortress in your mind. The fortress is not physically in your mind.
>>213497340yea I think thats going to be a last (you) from me as well. You aren't only a delusional tranny who insisted on his fanfiction you are also just cringy as fuck, last (you), I'll be filtering the rest of your posts
>>213497238Don't look up her nudes.
>>213496928>>213497035Anon, you're confusing British for homosexual. Common mistake.
>>213497386that ship has long since sailed
>>213497409I've heard that before, but it only applies to bashir for me. All other British men are okay.
>>213497458Nonsense. The reason James Bond is a super hero to the English is that he's the only straight man in Britain. He possesses the preternatural ability to have sexual intercourse with women.
>>213497409>>213497458I never even thought that Noel or Naboo were gay either
>>213497527nta any of theses anons but come on naboo is clearly a massive faggot
>>213497487>only straight man in BritainBe careful anon! Don't wanna be called a tranny now!
>>213497554If he had his brother's punk rock hairdu you would disagree
>>213497609but he doesn't all you need to watch is naboos night out with the gang on the flying carpet to know the truth

>>213497632Nah, he is a child. Even if he was 20 at the time of filming
>>213494107>scolds him for turning her downBut did he? Someone has to ask the question:
> Why did the transporter chief of the flagship of the fleet wind up being pushed out to an engineering job at the furthest way you can be in the galaxy while still being in the federation?
>>213497689doesn't seem the place to discuss mighty boosh however naboo ain't right in the head
>>213497345Why is an Irishman roleplaying the Battle of Britain?
>>213498306because he's a good bro, they also play the battle of clontarf which waa irish vs the vikings and o'brien plays as king brian boru
>>213498481I donโt remember that, big if true
>>213497950Is that thing spewing time back into the universe?

Nooooo why are there multiple threads discussing different aspects of Star Trek but NONE of them are the new shit????
>>213498696And that's a good thing
>>213498696Because the toontroon stole the /trek/ OP last night so this thread was made as a fuck you to them, luckily regular /trek/ is back now
