Movies - absolute canon. Books and comics - canon unless a new movie presents a conflict with the lore, what is on screen supersedes what's written. That's it. Alien has pretty extensive lore if you dig in the books. I'm afraid Earth will be an elseworlds story, because the creator doesn't care about the lore.

Also, Alien, Predator and AvP are three different franchises with different canon and lore. They are separate when it comes to the business entities and trademarks as well.
