>Skydance and Paramount Global and National Amusements do a lateral merger
>resultant merged company is called Paramount Skydance, d.b.a “Paramount”
>new logo makes it look like Skydance is their parent company
how the fuck does this make sense? Skydance as a company no longer exists, and its production arm is now housed under Paramount Pictures
Is this just vanity from all the Skydance execs who are now in the top positions in the new company?

But they have to make a bunch of Trek sitcoms and teen dramas first.

Did AT&T buying WB kill WB? Did Discovery buying WB kill WB? Will Universal or Sony buying WB kill WB?

You people need to grow up

They would need to redo thousands of special effects from scratch in order to remaster 300+ episodes.

basically none of the previous regime are making the jump to the new company and it's a complete acquisition of the Redstone companies (not sure why they needed National Amusements but they bought it anyway) so yeah, Viacom is dead

I really think it's only a matter of time with those. Not even referring to AI bullshit, I mean how every studio has been putting a surprising amount of money into fixing up their old legacy content to better sell it to AVOD streamers
Paramount already gave the 90s The Stand miniseries the full TNG remaster treatment, they scanned it in HD and recomposed the effects and it looks shocking good, same with the 80s Shogun miniseries
Warner did a huge remaster of Dallas a year ago
issue is they don't fucking say anything about these projects, they just quietly add them to streaming with no announcement
Shogun 1980 got quietly added to Paramount+ with no fanfare, same with The Stand, and Warner added Dallas to one of those free streaming platforms like FreeVee. they probably also re-sold it to whatever TV networks still exist that air boomer shows in syndication

> they probably also re-sold it to whatever TV networks still exist that air boomer shows in syndication
Streaming isn’t nearly as lucrative as syndication and studios are only now realizing this.
>Show with hundreds of episodes made on a small budget that airs on networks all over the world every night in every timeslot
>Show that takes 10 years and half a billion dollars to produce 50 episodes and gets locked behind one streaming service with a monthly fee
Guess which model is more lucrative.

>Show that takes 10 years and half a billion dollars to produce 50 episodes and gets locked behind one streaming service with a monthly fee
permanently paywalling shows is what I hate the most about modern streamers
Disney refuses to put Shogun 2024 or any other originals out on Blu-ray or on VOD, meaning the only way to watch is to subscribe to D+ or pirate it. same with the dozen or so Christmas movies that Netflix now has in their stable which they don't even bother promoting the following Christmas and they just let sink to the bottom of the content ocean
At least Paramount and Universal are pretty good about making their streaming originals available on blu-ray and VOD. it should be industry standard that after a few years once a streaming show/movie is no longer generating new subscribers, it gets made available for purchase elsewhere while remaining on the original streamer
