I think most of it comes down to a weak script. Jenna did an interview where she said writers were still making revisions while they were filming. I'm not sure if that's a normal part of the process but it makes me think that enough attention wasn't given to the writing, or that everyone wasn't on the same page

That was established to be an important(?) sub-plot in S1. Also, there is clearly some fuckery with the new principal, the fundraiser and his attempt to get Wednesday's grandmother involved. Since principal blackmails black bald chick to achieve his goals, her whole story line becomes relevant.

It was annoying, stupid and unnecessary. Didn't add anything to characters, didn't progress plot or add to the "lore". That whole part felt like a side quest you do for extra xp and loot. Which brings me to

The whole S1 felt more "tight". S2 is just a bunch of characters stumbling around and then some shit happens that leads to another shit happening. S1 had this Harry Potter thing where characters felts like part of the setting. In S2 setting is just background and props. They established a few types of outcasts in S1, now they just throw in some extra shit for reasons (e.g. Da Vincis, Avians)

They aren't telekinetics. I guess they are more tinkerer/artificer/mad scientist archetype (the kid with clockwork heart, the trap that stalker girl used was built by DaVincis) but they needed to give them some magic powers to make them visually distinct. I guess. The lore is trash. They should've just gone with a school for weird kids (like Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). Less kids too (most of them are just extras). Come to think of it, Wednesday herself doesn't fit into any of those stupid groups. She is a psychic? Clairvoyant?

Magic is okay. What isn't okay is them being called Outcasts when there enough of them to be accepted by the society. Make them a hdnful of freaky weird kids from weird creepy families. But in S2 we learn that Gomez is a lawyer, Wednesday grandma is filthy rich, The school can book an entire campground. IIRC, in S1 people kinda just tolerated them. In S2 nobody bats an eye when a vampire drags a coffin to a camping trip.
