Oh, the assumptions, and jumping to conclusions, embedded in what would seem to be a simple sentence. "Fans" doesn't automatically mean "people who fellate the franchise". And LD "makes fun" of the parts I didn't enjoy, like the logical contradictions and the inflated self-importance. What really needs to be explained is why some "fans" treat Trek like some sort of religion that can never be questioned, ready to jump into a jihad at a moment's notice.
