I just don't get it, how tf is Jiminy Glick so highly regarded? Like the celebrities he interviews act like it's the funniest thing in the world when he interviews them. I get that he's impersonating a talk show host named Skip E. Lowe, but that doesn't make it funny.

I love Martin Short too, Ed Grimley meeting Tina Turner is one of the most underrated sketches in SNL's 50 year history.

It’s funny because he’s insulting them to their face and all they could do is play it off and laugh because they’d look foolish getting mad at a fake Martin Short character. That was a great show, the skits were usually hit or miss (miss most of the time) but the interviews were comedy gold

McKean was great as his pretentious overly spraytanned bandleader too, they shoulda used him more in the show, he made the most of his little airtime

Celebrities think it's funny because he's not just impersonating one dude, he's impersonating ALL interviewers. Celebrities get interviewed hundreds of times per year. It gets old quick and most of them all do the same tired shit, so getting a front-row seat to see someone take the piss out of interviewers and mock them is super cathartic.
