>>213519861 (OP)i watched it. my thoughts
+ animation was good, nice and expressive, action had good motion without ever getting too hard to follow, had a recognizable style
+ character designs were interesting enough, nobody really blended into the background or left you thinking "who?" except maybe a couple of the saja boys who were a bit too similar.
+ soundtrack was also good even if that genre isnt my cup of tea, although the last song was a bit repetitive
- story was pretty by the numbers, could be any major animated mad libs script. not bad, just generic.
- main villain (the big cloud guy) was EXTREMELY underdeveloped. who was he? how did he come about? why was he trying to devour all the souls other than that he just liked them and he was a big fire guy? whats the lore behind the whole demon/hell dimension and his relation to it? a lot of the smaller demons are based on real mythological creatures of the region, but apparently the big fire guy is an original character/concept and they gave him zero development
- saja boys apart from the main one also had zero character development or backstory, so while the main guy had motivations and a shot at redemption, the others were just disposable goons, and they really could have done more with them
- last act felt kinda rushed. the whole exposure of the demon side and then coming back together of the group happens in only a few minutes, its very brief and with very little emotional work of rumi actually working through her friends hesitant betrayal and then attempt at reconciliation.
overall 6.5/10.
all around watchable movie, could have been better, could have been worse, probably could have benefited from an extra 15 minutes of runtime to flesh out some of the backstories, lore, and emotional reckoning at the end
