Gandalf as a wizard could carry them with utility spells and Aragorn was hybrid build with a side spec into healing so they didn’t need a Cleric.

he brought literally hundreds of people from death's door back to full with lay on hands. the only member of the fellowship he healed was frodo, but that's because frodo getting shanked on weathertop was one of three times someone in the fellowship actually took damage.
