Saw Weapons and thought it was pretty good. Liked it a lot more than Barbarian which I already liked. That being said, and maybe this is just because I don't generally get scared of horror movies, but it didn't seem like a particularly scary film. By which I mean, intentionally scaring. It's supernatural and off-putting sure, but like so is Lost at times. On the other hand as I was leaving the theater I heard several people talking about how "the first half was the scariest thing they'd ever seen" so maybe that's just me.

For me I think everything that happens in horror films is just so abstract conceptually it doesn't really frighten me because it's obviously not real or ever going to happen to me. Even more grounded things like home invasions are still things that I'm realistically never going to experience. T2 wouldn't be any less frightening than the first one if it were happening to you but neither ever will so I don't get any more scared watching one vs the other, even though the first is much more explicitly a horror film.

3 and New Generation are worse versions of TCM2. Then the reboot which is a bad version of TCM then every one after that is basically the same thing.

At least 3 and New Generation still kept the sort of comedy aspects of TCM2 even if they're bad. The remake and onward are just trying very hard to be grim and edgy without any of the rawness or horror from the original. They feel very studio and commercial from the kind of writers who think writing trivia as lore like Bubba's favorite ice cream or whatever is more important than making a good movie.

Sadly ayy lmao kinos are pretty rare.
The most bombastic is Close Encounters of the Third Kind, but because it's a Spielberg movie it doesn't really got into the weirder or spookier aspects of the UFO mythos.
The Fourth Kind got pretty spooky, but the weird documentary-within-a-movie framing regularly took me out of the film.

And the Vast of Night is a movie that slowly builds itself to a nice finale. If you don't like or care for the 1950s small town setting, it might however be TOO slow for you.

It's similar to Texas Chain Saw Massacre. First movie is clearly the better film, artfully made and genuinely great, and then the sequel is a lower quality exploitation film for people who like the general aesthetic of the first movie, but it delivers on that aesthetic.

Technically Falling Stars isn't an alien movie, or maybe it is we don't really know, but it is a good one.

I'll go ahead and tell you that for some of the movies the puppets stop being presented as some evil threat and are rather on the side of the protagonist fighting some other evil thing. Puppet Master 2 is similar to the original, though.
