For what its worth, its better than Weeks. That peaked within its first 15 minutes and never hit those same highs. Years' first 5 minutes are nowhere near as good as Weeks' intro, but the first half is much better in comparison. This is just me making excuses for the movie somewhat, but I just read that as Spike going through his teenage angst phase, and doing it in the world of 28 Years world could endanger a lot of people with how their tiny village is reliant on people getting along. ATJ's character is generally well meaning, but he is definitely is a bit in over his head with a cancer-ridden wife and a son that's starting to learn how to rebel.
