I've tried understanding this as well by swapping the genders and making it straight.
>woman chase a man but he's just out of reach
I stopped at this one because it just literally made no sense, it's not romantic or sexy.
>man chases a woman but she's just out of reach
Sort of getting something here, there's a bit of a teasing element to it, it's playful, he thinks he's going to get her and she reveals she's only limiting herself for him and then blows him out of the water, and he's surprised that there's so much more to her than he realises. She's the one that got away. Sort of like a whirlwind romance you have when you're 18 during summer and then never see her again. But then that would've required OP to have had that experience to feel that.
Hard to see it from another perspective, because the platonic aspect is so much more obvious and direct in this, but it's the closest I could get to. I assume OP means something much more degenerate, though. Fags always do.
