I really don't know what to make of the authorial intent because the movie seemed to underline that he was actually perfect, and that itself was the problem. They gloss over other common genre issues like sentience or slavery to focus in on the fact that he was basically a demigod with no personality flaws who absolutely never stops being caring and selfless, and this was a bad thing somehow because humans should be in relationships with other humans who are occasionally vindictive selfish assholes for no reason
