Rewatching Seinfeld, It’s Clear Kramer Carried the Show and No One Talks About It
Kramer had the most complex role in the show and made it look effortless. Physical comedy, bizzare inside jokes with great deliveries, improvs, costumes, outrage/shock acting Kramer did it all every single episode. Everyone else just stood around doing sitcom dialogue while he was carrying entire episodes by himself. No Kramer, no Seinfeld. If Kramer was ethnically Jewish irl he'd be 10x bigger name and more famous than Jerry.

>Kramer had the most complex role in the show and made it look effortless.

I've always maintained that Kramer was consistently the funniest thing on the show. No one has ever disputed this.

And he honed his craft, by all accounts took the work seriously, practicing and planning everything with incredible precision. Meanwhile the others were just goofing off, coasting on the success of being on a show where half the country tuned in night after night to see what that crazy Kramer would do next.

Jerry was the funniest and the most interesting. That’s why the show is named after him. It’s not called “Kramer”.

Maybe in early seasons, Kramer was perhaps the first character the show truly ''nailed'', but by the end his character was a hindrance and becoming formulaic.

Seinfeld is just not funny. Especially Jerry Seinfeld, who is the most unfunny thing about this already unfunny show.
Anyone who claims the opposite is a boomer with a bad taste or an actual NPC repeating aforementioned boomer's points and deluding themselves into thinking it's good.

In fact, the Costanza meme is probably the funniest thing this piece of shit media has ever spawned.

Richards is a mason. He even throughs some mason had signs. I think one instance is the JFK episode. Jerry George and Kramer are in a locker room talking about seeing each others dicks. Kramer says he needs to meet up with Newman and puts his finger on his lips implying him and Newman blow each other.

Nobody disputes this. There's a reason he plays the straight man role. He excels at being a nitpicky whiner surrounded by buffoons who aggravate his OCD neuroticism... and him embodying that component of his personality was when he was actually funny for a very narrow period before his ego swallowed up any minor blip of humanity he stilled maintained. He is a blackhole of human relatability today.

Rip Torn is the funniest part of Larry Sanders and JB Smoove is the funniest part of Curb. Hmm... Both jew shows. Interesting pattern. Maybe whining about stuff isn't the pinnacle of comedy?

Agreed. He and the entire cast has said numerous times how much he planned and caluclated everything beforehand, right down to tracking down the right shoes to led him slide through Jerry's door.

I don't think he's really that funny of an actor (though I did like his last stand-up routine), but dude nailed the part, and really made the character/show what it is.

Jerry may be the weak link but it's still peak of sitcom format. I'm no boomer I'm 29 and I've known it was hilarious since I was 13, you may lack the life experience to grasp the humor and relatability the show presents. By being a show about nothing it essentially constitutes everything

You need to live in a society with norms and etiquette to understand Seinfeld. The humor is entirely based around it.

Best example is when the group need to go to a dinner party, but need to buy wine as a gift. George questions it and asks why he can't bring Pepsi, and Elain says it's because they're 'adults.' It's a great back and forth, but if you don't live in a society and don't understand the unspoken social contracts between people, then there's nothing to latch onto. If you don't understand why they had to bring wine, then the whole back and forth becomes meaningless.

It's why zoomers don't get it. They grew up in a fractured society with vast distances between people and far too many cultures. There is no social contract any more, so it makes perfect sense for a show based around social contracts to not land with them.

Why is he so useless and untalented in everything else? You can be a "consummate thespian who prepares ahead more than anyone else" but that doesn't make you inherently funny. I honestly can't recall a single episode where he said or did something funny, and his career after this mediocre visual rice gruel show points to the fact that he got lucky and never did again

It's just a very specific character that worked with a very specific person. There are 1,000's of actors that nail a single role, then nothing else. Doesn't detract from that role in anyway.

It does if he's not even close to being the funniest thing on screen at any given moment

His lack of ability to find work and the fact that fucking Monk snubbed him highlights his lack of talent as an actor and as a comedian. He knew that Seinfeld, a bog-standard mediocre show, would be his magnum opus and that's why he fucked himself on stage
