How come video game movies didn't become the next big thing?
You guys promised they would be as big as comic movies but they didn't. Why?
>But Minecraft/Mario/sonic
A handful of kids movies isn't a cultural shift tho.

Rehashes of rehashes of rehashes of old IPs are the future.
Are you ready for a literal Empire strikes back remake but with bipoc characters? Cause it's coming.

Shit like Mario and the like works because it doesn't feel like they're deliberately alienating their core audience. Like I get it, it's a movie, you want to expand to other audiences, but making shit just awful for the core is fucking retarded and they keep doing it.

Video games are for gay nerds and are not art. Since film is an artform for chads and stacies it doesn't make sense to cater to gay nerds and their non-art.

Ignoring that half the current popular stuff is from games.
Japanese laws against copy rights give the original creator final say over whether a derivative work is good enough to be released. This is why anime adaptations are also a rarity.
Blizzard didn't make more because they were trying to devalue the company so it would be bought out.
Sony stuff is already movies so kind of pointless and would cut into their console profits.

My guess is most of them don't want a fat black woman playing tifa or whatever so modern Hollywood won't make these, OR they'll be so beat for beat like the anime it'll be pointless to watch them.
>Blizzard
Their stuff will be made into terrible terrible streaming slop that alt-lite review fags (like nerderotic or thequartering) will exist off lambasting like the dung eatting insects.
>Sony
Given their track record, they make terrible movies that flop horribly from the IPs they have.
