Not enough time to give a shit about each crew, considering a season of television nowadays is 1/2 or 1/3 of what it used to be. Also take into account the fact that we're in a severe talent drought, so each season is going to be serialized around a main plot nobody will care about. To put a microscope on that 8-12 episode series, only 3-5 episodes will actually be plot-driven, and the rest will not even be episodic, simply time-wasting filler where nothing happens, before lurching right back into whatever universe ending scenario was established in the opening episode.

i just recently finished watching Enterprise for the first time and while it's not the worst thing i've ever seen or anything and i did enjoy it, i felt relieved when it was over. there were just so many things to not like and be critical of and it's just like some kind of vicious circle where i feel like im watching it more cynically and less able to actually engage with it as it goes on because of the things that happen in it and the decisions they made. i was like "now that it's over at least it can't fuck anything else up." my main issue I think comes down to Archer himself being a terrible captain. when I watch Star Trek I don't think I should constantly be daydreaming about how I would be doing things differently if I were the captain because I find the one on the show constantly incompetent and unrealistic. it's something I did not enjoy. the captain of a Trek show should be like the guiding star that sets the tone and the tone Archer sets is just, amateur who gets lucky because he can't die because he's the main character like a fucking cartoon show or something. he should have been killed by aliens so many times over and you just get tired of it. his captaining aside, he's not even interesting to me as a person either. it's all around just weak desu

1-4 is the temporal Cold War. Xindi War is humanities first interplanetary conflict leading up to the real threat, the romulans. A prior conflict was needed to establish how humanity would react. Seasons 5-7.

S1 and S2 of ENT are still highly serialized. The episodes are like episodic TNG episodes but they always refer back to them and that TEmporal Cold War bullshit and the Suleban are woven throughout both seasons.

ENT S1-S2 is more serialized than any part of DS9. And ENT S3-S4 is even more serialized.

Also there's the fact that it only ran 4 years and it suffered an identity crisis halfway through. It feels incomplete, it feels unfinished, like it never hit its stride whereas VOY just took a long time to heat up. But it DID hit its stride eventually.
