Now that the dust has settled, what did /tv/ think of it?

It's like someone on comicbookmovie.com making a whole fanfiction post about how they would've rebooted Batman to be even more dark and gritty than Nolan but it's just the same shit.

If he actually wanted it to be unique, he would've made it R-rated like the Aronofosky version.

It literally and unironically insists upon itself. Too much fluff for the story they were trying to tell. The only important plot event after the beginning of the third act was Batman discovering he needed to be nice and not just vengeful, which could have been easily rolled into the arc about capturing the Riddler. He didn't need to escape or cause a flood. And Catwoman's entire plot relevance is that she hands over a casette tape to Batman at one point, which could have been done by literally anyone. She could have been cut entirely and saved for a second film.

Take a full hour off of the runtime and it would be a much better film. As it is, it's watchable. Pattinson does fine, the suit looks cool (although the cowl shows way to much of his jaw but that's a super nerdy nit-pick), the Nirvana-as-Batman's-theme-song shockingly worked for me, and I enjoyed Gordon's '70s detective schtick. It wasn't terrible, but I probably won't rewatch it.

i thought it was funny. i grew up with LiveJournal and My Chemical Romance all that, so Batman sat in his little cave writing his poems about the scars.....inside!!! o__o just cracked me up.
also the fact Batman kind of just hovered around, his autism brain outright crashed when he got a puzzle wrong, i don't know. i have no idea what was intentional, but i was definitely entertained.

only outright problems are that it was an hour too long, too dark, and the mumbly audio/dialogue was hard to make out (tried different rips, speakers, headphones... it's the film itself).

Should have had Batman figure out the floor map.

Riddler didn't stop at Falcone.
He made detailed records of wrongdoing for everyone in Gotham.
He was going to kill them all.
And use everyone outside Gotham to do it.

As soon as he realised that, heavily swayed by the information. All of it useful. He also realised he was the plan. If he kept all of this, it would be him that did it. Joker's sidekick. All of it could prevent...
All of it could have wrongs intercepted. People prevented from being invalid.
Before he thinks he burns it. All of it. In the building as it burns.
The outside let in seeing itself better would treat them as if they did all that for eternity. They would keep them that.
Riddler appears.
"You're just like them."
"What about the victims."
Batman says: "We won't make them."
"Victims?" "What do you call a repeat offender?"
Batman answers: "Potential."
A hole is burnt open by a collapsed wall.
"It's warm in here."
"It's cold out there."

REALLY FUCKING BORING, so boring I stopped watching halway through.
Barry Lyndon, Lawrence of Arabia, Das Boot etc I sat through no problem because they were enjoyable. But Batman was soul-suckingly boring on a whole new level.

the script is pure cringe, like the whole "u are el" setup was so stupid. the third act goes to shit, the writing is just baffling. A pity, because the aesthetics were top notch

In black and white gang scene, the gang first treats batman as a joke, like they had no idea who he was. But near the end of the fight one says "its him", implying they do know of the batman but assumed this one was an imposter, despite batman only being around for 2 years and likely not having inspired any imposters yet.

Batman not bothering to investigate from which building came the photos killed this movie for me. Specially when they reveal that the Riddler never left that goddamn building and in fact the room he up there also stored all his goddamn fucking plans. If Batman had bothered to check that out he'd have stopped the Riddler from killing tons of people.

It's just so fucking stupid, specially when the club is right in front of it, and you can realize the photos where taken from high up.

I genuinely liked the detective aspect of it, like Batman's original schtick was World's Greatest Detective and he doesn't hardly do any detectiving stuff in like any of the other movies. But overall it was just quite dull and felt pointless in a way the Burton and Nolan (until BAAANE) didn't.
