Brief thoughts on the horror movies I watched this morning:

>I Heart Willie
I went in thinking it would be abysmal trash since it's another Steamboat Willie horror movie. Up until the final 20 minutes or so, it's bad, but that last 20 minutes puts in crazy amounts of work. Now, it doesn't save the movie or make it even average, but at least some of the movie is enjoyable.

FF #202. It does enough that I liked it, but it's no better than a 5.5/10. Once again, if you find tapes/film/discs randomly in your new house, DO NOT WATCH THEM. Just get the fuck out of there immediately. At least this one being set in SoCal means it makes sense why the couple didn't own a gun.

This was so incredibly meh and a 4.5/10. It's very watchable and some will like it, but holy shit does it waste time going over the same shit multiple times. If you cut this down by 10 minutes, I'd be a vast improvement. The pace is so bad and feels like a 2 hour long movie while only being 95 minutes long. Just a ton of wasted potential.

I just finished watching sleep away camp! what a crazy little movie. honestly besides all the murder and shit it looks kinda fun. baseball, water balloons, volley ball, swimming. is that what camp was really like? the kids are actually pretty good actors too. it was a pretty fun little murder mystery deal and the ending got me hahaha.

I've bought a lot of boxes of tapes from estate sales and I've yet to come across a single homemade porno. The only blanks I've found that wasn't a movie or TV were vacations or some mundane function like a birthday party.

Cannot believe how bad this show is. Episode after episode of introducing some plot point or idea which the characters immediately forget about and don't investigate. Weird shit happens to characters and then they just go to work and don't tell anybody about it. The church just allows the most obviously evil and psychopathic person ever to work with them to handle "potential liabilities" in spite of the fact he isn't a lawyer and they in fact have a lawyer on their payroll.

It's mind boggling to me that people think Weapons is good.
The entire movie feels like a 45 minute short film that was padded into absolute fucking OBLIVION. The movie drags and drags and at the same time, just brushes over the kid and the witch storyline with completely pointless slop wtf.
Insane idiot plot, requires the cops and FBI to actually be retarded. Love how the Cop has info on where the kids are and doesn't even fucking Radio it in what the fuck? Cops don't even give a fuck a cop has been missing for hours nor has radioed in for hours nor returned to the station at the end of the day. Also they don't even follow up on the Junkie. Teacher and Father don't bother to call the cops nor let anyone know the fucking LOCATION OF THE FUCKING CHILDREN.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills when people are ranting and raving about this movie and the good reviews. It really feels like Horror as a genre has hit rock bottom, and people will just accept any crap as "good" if it has a decent marketing campaign.

Would kill for this to get adapted into a film. Probably one of the best horror books in actually visualizing a totally fucking batshit Cosmic horror situation that feels like it would translate to screen amazingly. Especially when you realize Goblins are essentially children, hopped up on psychedelics and meth and running around with knives murdering people.
Great body horror in it as well.
Sadly we will only get 40k slop on screen, but if I was heading GW, this is the one I would want to get put out there and made into a horror movie with a director that has a great eye.

The solitary camrip I ever watched was for Gladiator back in 2000. Just having a recent movie to watch on my computer/DVD player back in those days was remarkable. I only did summer camp once when I was young and it was just a day camp. 9am - 2pm, so we just hate lunch there and back home afterwards. It was fun, painting, crafts, sports, movies on Fridays. I liked it. I think this was a year or two before my first Friday film.

My biggest issue with Weapons is that it feels like a lot of set up for a just okay climax.
Like if they had a larger budget they would've had the group of kids causing mass amounts of chaos across the entire town. Attacking people at random. Car accidents, shit exploding, etc. Like the opening of Dawn of the Dead remake.
Instead we get a very cut down version of that with only one person getting attacked.

It's definitely more of a comedy than a horror movie but it's in a horror movie franchise so I feel that it gets a pass for that reason. If it was completely disconnected from Evil Dead I would be more inclined to agree.

And if we're talking about Evil Dead as a horror franchise in general, I would argue that Evil Dead 2 is about the same level of goofy as AoD. Just with a bit more gore.

It's a horror, but a horror comedy. Like when he yanks back the sheet and tarman is there. It could be a jumps care for s split second that then turns funny. It's still horror. They originally wanted it to be serious, but horror comedies were really popular at the time, and the studio wanted it to be horror comedy. Bloodsucking Bastards is a comedy in a horror setting and I think fits what you're describing more accurately. I would still concede it's horror in general though.
