It was not particularly awful or good and had some novelty.
It is a fine, family friendly rendition of the media conscientious premise of the original war of the worlds with surprisingly bad acting from ice cube which elevates the uncanny elements to a sort of charming campiness. The criticism seems to be from superficiality of the plot or elements of the mechanics of computers which were unrealistic or simplified but which savvy technophiles can appreciate as sublimation of user tools such as macros or flow state. The average consumer being less historically knowledgeable and technologically literate or cynical of the editorial decisions can find a variety of quick disingenuous complaints. The allusions in design of the walkers to both day of the triffid and harryhausens works will be lost on lay viewers.

Watch it while drinking. Only way to make it work. Like, after you've already been drinking for a while.

My dad and I watched this last night and we couldn't agree on the timeframe of the movie. I said it must have happened over and hour or two becuase the daughter got that stake stuck in her artery yet seems fine in the end, but he said it must have happened over days at least because of all the shit that happens, most notably the various deployments.

Started it and ended it 5m into it and started to listen to the audiobook instead it's quite elaborate actually.

The 2005 movie was good. The 1955 movie was actually bad and I rarely say this about early films but it was a bad decision to not have tripods with legs.
