So... what the fuck was that?
Watched this last night trying to go in with no preconceived notions of what it was supposed to be, but it sort of fucking sucked. I liked a lot of stuff in the first half, but the entire 2nd half managed to continuously jump the shark while simultaneously being underwhelming as fuck at every possible opportunity. And that ending was laughably cringe.
Did anyone enjoy this at all? Is there any hope of the sequel being watchable?

should I watch these movies guys? they seem to be discussed a lot and since it's garland I expect they're at least somewhat interesting

28 Days is all around great. Some people shit on the third act, but I personally don't understand the hate. Incredible atmosphere, visuals, performances, everything.
28 Weeks is a lot of fun, albeit a bit of a step down stylistically and significantly less scary. Definitely a more Spielbergian take on 28 Days' formula.
28 Years is sorta all over the place. Super stylized visually but also super cliche and illogical in the plot points and it feels like they were just making it up as they went. By the end it feels like a straight up spoof of 28 Days.

I kinda liked it, but I feel like an island that has a highly infectious rage zombie virus that can spread easily would be less quarantined and more nuked. It would be way too easy for terrorists to go there to get a virus sample to release in major towns outside oft he British isles.

Yes, they show an occasional quarantine boat patrolling, but that's shit security for such a dangerous contagion.

If I was paying for this movie to be made, and this was delivered to me as the final product, I would refuse to pay.

It was so fucking bad that it felt like a parody. It makes me worried that if I rewatch 28 days later I'll dislike it cause it might be way more retarded than I remember it.

Just finished it. Should've kept the Swede alive until the end. Speaking of the end, the ending ruined the whole movie. Not that it was that great anyway, but it just kind of made a joke of the whole seriousness at the end. Birthing scene was also retarded.

5/10 movie at most.

Sequel is DOA and they're contractually obligated to make a third lmao

The editing, cinematography and sound design just pissed me off. It started to get good during the final 30 minutes or so but then shat the bed again just before the ending.

The fucking Swede. His team's introduction and his entire character was just so pointless. We see the Swedes land and fight so that we can get introduced to his character, then he saves the kid and the mom from a few infected, then he's a dick to them for like 10 minutes, then he dies. What the fuck was the point of that entire plot thread? What did his character do for the plot? None of that paid off at all, even his death was just him getting killed in the same way the Alpha has killed everyone before.
It genuinely would have been a much more interesting or at least watchable movie if it was just entirely about his team surviving after their ship goes down and discovering how much what is left of the UK has changed. Them and the island village were the only parts of the movie that were actually interesting.

That whole scene was awful. There's gas in the building but they can survive it. The gas explodes killing the infected but they're not even slightly hurt.

The creative decision to insert that ending in the literal last 2 minutes was bizarre, borderline insulting. Beyond completely breaking tone and being all around cringe, it also tells you "Hey, remember those first couple minutes of the movie that didn't connect to anything else? Well, that was actually the only important part, everything else you just watched didn't really matter."

there's a decent movie in there but it wasn't on the screen. the JeetGI, the stop motion double cut kills, the african ambient soundtrack etc really killed it, could've been kino. Also Boyle cast the only nigger in the movie as the Alpha with a huge dick, what did he mean by this

It's the end of a 28 Days sequel. The kid has just watched his mom die then placed her skull on top of a bone totem and told his dad he's not coming home, after which his dad ran screaming into the ocean. You're not supposed to have a big smile on your face. Parkour track suit power rangers dunking on zombies isn't the next step after all of that. It shits on the rest of the movie.
