Yeah I laugh everytime I see it. I grew up a few miles from that street and the 7/11, Sears, Bank, and IHOP were fake, built just for the movie. Every other business on that street is an actual local business. (The fake ones were built in the alleys between). People from out of town kept stopping at the fake 7/11 to pump gas and trying to go inside only to find no one working and no merchandise on the shelves.
A lot of my neighbors worked on the movie, one neighbor helped set up the overpass for the “Stop, invincible son!” Scene, which is a few miles further away leading to the highway to take you into the suburbs/Chicago
