> You see, I've installed an inhibitor chip which protects my higher brain function. The chip, which is the only thing protecting my brain, has been conveniently left in a fragile glass casing despite all other technology in the arms being encased with metal. I will now wear no electrical insulation while i proceed to be within 5 feet of a sun made by a fusion reactor.
Was he retarded?
Anonymous No.213568632
He installed the inhibitor chip later, the arms subtly manipulated him into giving the chip poor protection so they could take full control later on when he was at his lowest.

Even more stupid was not factoring in magnetism and conducting this high-risk experiment in a random NYC warehouse apartment building surrounded by ferrous beams and casings.

Was it hubris? Why not just control those metallic arms remotely with a robot or similar? For a physicist, he is pretty retarded.

Spider-man always pulls his punches. He’s like an anime character who only uses ten percent of his power.

say what you want about 3 but spiderman 2 is the only movie where spiderman is portrayed how he's supposed to, an exhausted, lonely brokie who does it cause he has to. They could've done that with brand new day but jews need their money so we gotta add hulk and punisher

Out of the whole movie my favorite sight gag is at the end when he decides to help Peter, and three of his arms immediately agree but the fourth one keeps choking Peter for just a second longer and he gets disappointed with it like it's a rambunctious puppy

I have never seen anyone else actually mention that moment

To play Devil's advocate for a moment, perhaps if the inhibitor chip was surrounded by a tougher, more durable material, its signal wouldn't be able to get out?

He lost his powers in this retarded movie. Mechanical spider webs would've fixed that instead of him magically losing his powers and regaining it later.
Anonymous No.213571280
Rewatching this recently, it's amazing that the movie is able to make "characters" out of Doc Ock's arms and it doesn't feel forced or anything, and meanwhile most current MCU movies can't even be bothered giving the main hero of the film a character arc.

Loved this flick as a kid but nothing in doc ock's transformation makes any sense. Was giving him tentacles really the best way of going ahead with whatever scientific stuff he was doing was? Why did the tentacles have murderous personalities that could take over him?

This isn't even the dumbest thing Otto does in the movie. Once he escapes the hospital and the tentacles turn him evil, he's all "I will try my experiment again! But this time, I will make the machine bigger, stronger, more capable of containing the tridium!" And okay, that sounds good. The first machine wasn't capable of containing the tridium, so you make a stronger one that can. Makes sense. It shows he's learning from his mistakes. But then, instead of using a bigger/stronger machine and the same amount of tridium as the first time, the dumbass goes and uses like fifty times the amount of tridium, which no machine would ever be able to contain.
