Will Forte
why didnt he become a bigger star? Was one of the last good SNL cast members, was good in Nebraska, MacGruber is a cult classic, and his sitcom Last Man on Earth was total kino. why no new projects in years?

charming, has charisma, clearly intelligent. not funny.

MacGruber is kino, never watched the sequel
I dropped Last Man on Earth after a few episodes

MacGruber taught me 2 things in life:
1.How to rip out a man's throat with your bare hands
2. Leaving upper deckers

him not being funny probably has something to do with it.
>bu-but he's kino!
then why didn't his career take off despite multiple efforts?

i forgot they made a Macgruber series on peacock like 3 years ago, never got around to watching, never saw any reviews so i have no idea if it was well received or not

Only a small handful of huge stars have ever come from SNL and he just met a fate similar to most SNL cast members over the years. Compared to a lot of them he still did pretty good for himself. He's great but he didn't always pick projects that propelled his career forward. Probably doesn't have a great agent. Also he was snubbed by Warner Bros choosing to not release the big Looney Tunes reboot movie that he invested a ton of time in.

hes a good comedy yeller because he doesnt do it in an annoying goofy playful wacky way like Will Ferrell or that Robinson guy. when Will Forte does it he sounds like hes genuinely a scary insane person have a psychotic breakdown lol i remember when he'd do it on SNL he'd literally turn beat red while doing it i thought he was gonna give himself an aneurysm

for me its the Potato Chip Theif sketch, great unhinged Forte performance (and Sudeikis playing a foghorn leghorn sounding southern gentleman for no reason lol

Is this board stupid or are we just collectively ignoring that Will Forte has had a solid career?
>Been in dozens of films
>Done hundreds of episodes of TV
>Nominated for an Emmy three times
Yeah he isn't that funny nor is he a household name but pretty much everyone knows him from one thing or another.

I'm assuming OP is wondering why he never became an A-lister. Yeah he's still had a better career than a lot of SNL cast members

everyone acts like if an SNL cast member doesnt have a career of like Adam Sandler or Eddie Murphy or Will Ferrell after they leave the show then theyre a failure. its a misconception that SNL makes everyone a huge star, for every cast of like 20 people only like one becomes a big star after, and thats even rare nowadays because they dont even make much comedies anymore

the standard measurement for post-SNL success is Rob Schneider and Forte is significantly below that bar.

He said some mean things about Israel. He wasn't famous enough to get away with it.

This is a fucking masterpiece and should be mentioned more in /tv/ threads. It's also written by Odenkirk who also should've had a bigger comedy career.

Bob wasn’t having the best luck when he tried to transition to becoming a movie director he had two theatrical bombs in a row with Solomon and picrel. Luckily Breaking Bad came not long after to save his career

As funny as Will Arnett was in AD, he didn’t have what it took to be a comedic leading man in the movies

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Sad that he never wrote another comedy aside from that horrible Netflix film that's only notable cause it has David Lynch in it for a minute. Solomon Brothers has such a unique style of comedy but it's forced to masquerade as a stupid generic noughties comedy when it's anything but.

I think of this and Hot Rod coming out around the same time as the last period of stupid comedies like this regularly coming out in the theater. I miss those days, those kind of movies would rarely be popular it seemed since those were the ones that always had almost nobody else in the theater
