Why is historical context completely absent from the Oppenheimer? The entire film is framed as if the people behind the building of the bomb and behind the attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had the hindsight to see how history would unfold. Yes Japan would have surrendered with or without the bombings, but that's something they didn't know. I was reading Omar Bradley's A Soldier's Story. He was General of the Twelfth United States Army Group, the largest and most powerful army group in Europe during WW II. He was told August 11, 1943 about the Manhattan Project. After Battle of the Bulge, he was writing that World War II in Europe could last until "the summer of 1945 or September 1945" due to the resistance they were facing from the Germans. Again this was after Bulge when Germany was "defeated" and he's writing this stuff.
Ok so if General of the Twelfth United States Army Group is writing that, how in the hell do you think Oppenheimer or Truman expected to know Japan was on the "verge" of defeat?

Because Hollywood is run by subversive Communists intent on completely destroying American society. It's not accidental, it's intentional.

PBS's American Experience has a remarkably balanced account of the final months of the war in the pacific. It is mind boggling how absolutely delusional the Japanese emperor & high command were while their cities were literally being burned to the ground around them by B29's. All they had to do was fucking surrender and they would have been spared. And even in the end they were more frightened (probably justifiably) of the Soviets taking part in the post war occupation. I urge anyone interested to watch it. It's very good.

Heinrich Müller, Director of the Gespto

>In the last months of the war, Müller remained at his post, apparently still confident of a German victory: he told one of his officers in December 1944 that the Ardennes offensive would result in the recapture of Paris.
Hiroshi Ōshima, ambassador of Japan to Germany and the Slovak Republic
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroshi_%C5%8Cshima
>As the war progressed and Germany began to retreat, Ōshima never wavered in his confidence that Germany would emerge victorious. However, in March 1945, he reported to Tokyo on the "danger of Berlin becoming a battlefield" and revealing a fear "that the abandonment of Berlin may take place in another month." On 13 April 1945, he met with Ribbentrop (for the last time, it turned out) and vowed to stand with the leaders of the Third Reich in their hour of crisis. "I do not wish to be treated in the same manner as other diplomats merely by reason of great danger from the ravages of war," he proclaimed,

Hollywood today. Note that you can't check out any new media about the war and not get a lecture on US internment camps. Meanwhile, Japanese in the US WERE spying and aiding the enemy and they WERE barbaric in their treatment of enemy soldiers and civilians.
