Astroturfed "DUDE IT'S SO BAD IT'S GOOD" shite, wouldn't be surprised that most of the people posting about it are bots / paid shills by the director himself to promote his garbage flick.

The concept of it being all on a computer (even if it’s been done in other projects) is the only thing that comes close to being commendable. And even then it’s still utter shit.

The acting is bad and comes across as table reads and first takes. The CGI is PS3 levels outdated. The editing is abysmal and is over the top for no reason. The characters are bland and uninteresting. The reused stock footage and the real footage of real forest fires and real war is jarring. The story is shit, and that’s coming from someone who knows nothing about the source material.

But dear god the unintended comedy is through the roof. Genuinely almost on the same level as The Room. All of the technology being so specific and “ex machina” some of the weird lines, the stock footage and real footage mentioned above, the fact the entire conflict (the “war of the worlds” on which the film is named after) taking place and being resolved within 8 hours, and the dozen plus references to goddamn Amazon.

It’s a cacophony of bad elements that wants to be taken seriously. I’ve heard some say it’s supposed to be self aware or a parody, but look at the Naked Gun that just came out. There’s a difference between a comedy film coming across as serious and a serious film with unintended comedy.

And let me mention the goddamn Amazon product placement again holy shit. A fucking Amazon delivery driver convinces the main character to buy a thumb drive off Amazon Prime, the film then shows the lead buying one off of Amazon Prime, the drone crashes next to a homeless guy, and they convince him to help using a $1,000 gift card to Amazon Prime. I AM NOT MAKING THIS SHIT UP.

I genuinely cannot recommend this enough
