Its a fun adventure series like Hercules. Basically she spends the first half of her life being a piece of shit warlord. Then the show starts and she spends the rest of her life trying to atone by doing good

its great. i prefer herc but they are tonally very different. xena got the huge budgets.

I tried giving it a watch its kinda retarded. So many of the stories are just so retarded. I think season 2 started with her having a centaurs son or something that came out of the blue. I don't remember all of the absolutely retarded plot points. Maybe it gets good at some point but I would recommend watching Merlin instead.

It's weird
It tried to do two things at once like Buffy did but failed like so many off the other shows

One one hand, the monster/plot point of the week are usually good ones, even the ones that are sheer comedy like the episode where the day repeats

But the problem is that it desperately tried to be a 'we're totally deep and serious' at times overall plot with shit like Calisto and Caesar and the gods and the whole pregnant shit with Eve and whatnot

That said, try the first few episodes, even if the first episode has it confirmed her former lover is a negro
And you might like it, you might not.

Hercules is actually better. Most people are nostalgic for Xena for the simple fact 'le hecking dykes are le hecking cute'. But Hercules had better female characters imo

It's awesome, campy and fun, mix of Greek myth and 70s kung fu movies. Best episodes are the Evil Xena flashback episodes. Honestly they should have done more of those. If you like it make sure to check out Cleopatra 2525, same producers and head writer, set in the future instead of the past with evil robots and lots of pew pew pew

It was and is brutally dumb and in retrospect also AGP bait. Even if you were were fucking bored and watching linear TV with not many other options in the mid-'90s you were probably still too smart for it and could only handle like 1/10 episodes.
