Fox had designated hours for children's programming, usually in the morning afternoon. But Power Rangers got so big that they aired a few episodes during the evening as well. Those were the Tommy episodes. It was such a huge event that even adults watched it.

That's the one thing I hate about having the internet and digital services. The hype isn't what it used to be anymore because everything is available at hand. As someone who the show was targeted to when it was new, it was incredible.
It was the first time that I wanted to see the villain win because he was so cool and I was so confused about it.

I was 5 when I first saw it, and it was just the coolest fucking thing. The dragonzord, the shoulder armor/mantle, the deep green colour.

None of the other evil rangers or 6th rangers ever matched up again. Even the White Ranger was a punk by comparison, Green was where it was at.

Weebs who insist the show should've immediately used the Daianger costumes don't get it. I like Dairanger and Kakuranger and the suits, but the dinosaur theme was such a complete homerun, it's easily the most appealing theme of the 90's sentai and a big part of the success(which is funny because it wasn't particularly prominent in the show itself beyond the zords)
The zyuranger costumes being on all the merchandise for 3 years established a brand identity in popculture we're still seeing the effects of.

Tommy (The Green Ranger) was unique at the time when compared to the other rangers in that he actually had a character ark where as all of the other power rangers were fairly straight forward and one dimensional in regards to their character/gimmick (i.e. Jason (Red) martial artist (Leader), Bill (Blue) smart/nerd, Kim (Pink) gymnastics, Zack (black) breakdancing black guy, Trini (Yellow) Asian?).

Tommy basically had a corrupted/brainwashed green ranger arc at the beginning that was reminiscent of shadow the hedge hog today. It was cathartic as kid to watch him switch sides and piss off Rita.

Throughout the season Eric basically had to struggle being loyal to his boss the (Red Time Rangers father) and is job or being loyal to friend the Red Time ranger. It's too late now but 10 years ago they should have made a power rangers show that incorporated all the rangers. It should have been a show where the rangers mirrored more like a PMC and had different units. You had the light speed rescue to deal with disasters. Space to deal with space issues. Turbo could be like traffic cops. Time Force for timeline related issues etc and the main characters were just generic grunts who had to interact with these different factions depending on the episode and there could be rivalries and distrust between the groups. They could have taken all these one off season shows they made and wove it into a bigger universe.

A good deal of the production of Power rangers is voice acting over the ranger suited scenes(both JP footage and US original). So some of the recording guys noticed he was pretty well suited for it and got more gigs that way Probably helped that Saban a;so did anime dubs(so while I don;t think he dubbed any Saban anime, techs in the studio would reccomend he pursue it)

I learned from the last PR thread that just about every season is uploaded in full on the archive ripped from the dvds (with subs even)

There was plans for a show like this but it came at a time that the show was sorta up in the air and they did not know where they would run the show or if it would even continue. The idea was that Tommy was going to be the leader of a massive international ranger organization that runs missions all over the planet. It was shelved and then as things became more stable they just never really came back to it. After JDF passed I think they probably lost the feel on it permanently.
