For me it's Kino. But I don't care for movie musicals that much. I prefer live captations of musicals and opera.

Childhood is not wanting to watch musicals because you're afraid other people will think you're gay.
Adulthood is watching musicals because they're chock full of beautiful gals writhing suggestively.

The classic Hollywood musicals were great for production design (my personal favorites are the Fred and Ginger films from the 30s), but I do like the musical numbers too. But those great art deco sets and Ginger's dresses are works of art in their own rights.

Cyd dancing recommendations: Singin' in the Rain, Band Wagon, Silk Stockings (she's the female lead in the latter two). For specialty dance scenes, The Kissing Bandit (horrible Frank Sinatra film but she has a great 3-way challenge dance with Ann Miller and Ricardo Montalban), Deep in My Heart, the Ester Williams films (often paired again with Montalban).

Non-dancing Cyd rec: Tension, a spiffy little noir with Audrey Totter as the bitchiest bitch of a wife that bitched.

Music Man is a good example of a musical that's more than the music. All the townspeople are played by very strong character actors and are a reason to watch the film all by themselves. Of course for me it's Shirley Jones.
