The film would be more appreciated if Goodfellas didn't exist. As it is, Casino is like an unofficial sequel to Goodfellas that goes over the same ground just a little too often, with the expected Rolling Stones music and all the rest. Still good though, and I think it has aged better than the Tarantino gangster films of that decade.

Doesn't matter to me, I'm judging the movies on their own terms. Tommy was a better character and a better performance from Joe Pesci. Maybe the character was actually improved by a bit of removal from reality and creative license, because the """true stories""" these guys tell about themselves and each other tend to have more bullshit in them than good fiction does.
