Perfect song for that movie. The soundtrack gets praised a bunch but they didn't pick just good songs but songs that actually fit where they were used in the movie. Well done.

to this day i still don't know if pink floyd made the album or the movie first because they fit so perfectly together,
not to mention dark side and the wizard of oz
are there any other really good "musicals", and I use that term loosely because I despise musicals? Haven't seen Tommy but I'm aware of Elton's pinball scene

The album was 1979, the movie was 1982, so answered that for you.
Other good musicals:
Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars (much more than a David Bowie concert video)
Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii (shows actual studio footage of them recording Dark Side Of The Moon... no one had any idea it'd become one of the biggest rock albums of all time)
URGH! A Music War (features a bunch of 1980s bands before they became famous)
The Decline Of Western Civilization: part 1 is punk, part 2 is metal, part 3 is dead-end kid culture
Iron Maiden: Live After Death (the 2nd wildest concert video I've ever sen)
Ministry: In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up (the wildest concert video I've ever seen)
Jimi Hendrix: Live At Monterey (part concert, part documentary)

yeah but they could have planned the movie while writing the album ( I'm just really high lol )
Thanks for the recommendations. I would add The Band: Last Waltz to that list as well

The film was loosely based on the stage production for the wall. They didn't just go out on stage and play, there were giant puppets that came out, a brick wall that gets built up over the concert, laser shows, shit projected on screen, etc.
It was a concept album, which meant its supposed to hang together, with a loose narrative that goes through the progression of the album.

You can probably find a video of it on youtube.
Shit would have been cool. Every so often they'd go and do another The Wall tour.
I know as a kid my aunt and uncle took my sister, my cousins, and me to a pink floyd laser light show at a planetarium, I just remember they had us wait inside for them, and when they finally came back in they smelled funny, only to realize years later they were getting high as kites.

To clarify, my world of music changed forever the first time I heard "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne on the radio. That was the sound I had been looking for! That was followed soon after by "Flight Of Icarus" by Iron Maiden on MTV. Years later, little anon's world would once again be rocked while watching the 1990 movie "Hardware", where I got my first taste of industrial, namely Ministry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbos-1mzIxY So yeah, the Talking Heads were the furthest thing from my mind.

they play veteran of the psychic wars randomly during a segment that's basically the 5th element. it's weird. like the other songs fit in context better. it might be because one of the segments was never finished and got cut out

It really is. I am so glad I bought the CD decades ago. And the DVD. It captured 1981 in the best way.

I truly love these movies and wish there were more. Heavy Metal magazine encompasses literally everything I want in media: explosions, boobs, butts, hot sexy women, violence, gratuitous gore, aliens, humour, swords and sandals, sex, war, spaceships, fantasy, cool shit. Every single issue is literally dripping with cool, literally what you would think all those heavy metal album covers would be like if they were their own universe and its stories and its art has introduced me to so many artists: Luis and Romulo Royo, Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Moebius; so many. I would kill for another film or hell, an adaptation of some of the issues. Every single one is so unique and no two are alike.
