It's just a manifestation of the ancient myth/legend that old elites prey on the vitality of the young to sustain themselves. This predates adrenochrome theory. They had versions of this myth about vampires and countesses bathing in child blood

Go down the rabbit hole if you're curious, the information is out there. I know you're a desensitized internet tough guy or whatever, but what you're describing isn't even the tip of it.
