All the stoner movies OP was talking about, the music tv shows and things like Adult Swim, weed smoking was heavily promoted at that time as a harmless and something that instantly made you cooler. I was a skateboarder in high school so i was peer pressured into smoking weed but never really liked it much after the first few times i got high. On the other hand on of my high school buddies got super addicted to it and other drugs and basically ruined his life and still smokes insane amounts of concentrate and dabs every day while working a dead end job and living with his parents. For some people it's just like coffee or nicotine. They could get through the day but they choose not to. Or they have a medical license and can smoke whenever they want. I've gone through times in my life where I was blazed from morning to night. I still made my grades and did my job too. But it can get old.
