>movie about how hope lives on even in the direst of times
If you're getting filtered by superhero movies that smash you in the face with their messaging, maybe consider night classes.

Because superhero movies in a serious tone = kino

It's also the reason why the dark knight trilogy is so highly regarded

this is the last capeshit I actually went to see in cinema and it was kino
I actually watched it again recently at home and it was still kino
I actually remember thinking at the time of its release how sick I capeshit dominating cinemas and expecting the trend would soon end. That was eight years ago ffs

Capeshit was originally for kids but got highjacked by manbabies in 1986 when Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns were released.

Superheroes became grim and gritty. The target audience was single men with disposable incomes. Because of this, later generations of American kids flocked to manga and anime.

The movies are the sole reason superhero comics haven't completely cratered.
