It's about the same so far.
The hooks and reveals in season 2 part 1 have been weaker than season 1 so far, but part of this could be because season 1 raised expectations.
The asylum subplot felt like a waste of time because the raven villain reveal was so shit and there was too much recycling of season 1 villains.

Season 1 in comparison had the epic hyde as a villain and Joseph Crackstone and his descendant, which felt like satisfying meaty bosses.
Season 2 so far doesn't even really have a clear villain yet in four episodes.
The non-Addams side characters in season 2 feel weaker than the first season excluding Agnes.

Although judging by the trailer, part 2 is going to ramp up the spectacle.

I'm a horror fan and was initially excited about a Wednesday Addams horror show / murder mystery. It was advertised as such, but the first season was actually a teen drama, and I hated it, but the rest of the world loved it. Season two so far has been more like what I expected the first season to be and I've been enjoying it but it feels like its been getting a lukewarm response online. No one actually likes horror on this shitty planet, people basically just want a goth version of Mean Girls.

That was my favourite episode.
The best episodes are the ones that are actually centered around them participating in school related events, like the canoe race im the first season, or school trip to Jericho etc.
I think each episode of the first sesson after the first had some unique setting like the carnival, Pilgrim's world etc which is why I liked it more. For season 2 I didn't like how they the first two episodes centered so heavily in school and in episode 4 the boring asylum.

I barely remember s1 because it was so long ago but I want to say yes.
Jenna's made me laugh far more than she did in s1. All the Addams are present which makes it feel more like a follow up to Family Values, but different. There's no dumb forced love triangle. Buscemi is much more entertaining that Gwendolyn was.
In short, s1 felt like a generic YA story with Wednesday shoved in. S2 feels like an Addams Family show, set in a magic school.
