Why are they so unambitious?

>could have started vinegar syndrome and actually made money off selling the shit they watch
>could have bought an independent theatre and screened B or even classic films
>could have even turned RLM into an actual production company like Rooster Teeth
>instead did nothing

What was the point?
Anonymous No.213613707
They just want to make money doing low effort garbage. Even the guy they made fun of 10 years ago has an actual movie coming out, and all they can do is ironic so bad it’s good shit like Space Cop.

None of those business ventures would be profitable, they make considerably more money trashing other people's movies.

Are they even a thing anymore? RLM is miles more successful than RT. I haven't heard anything from them for a decade.

I can't necessarily blame them, if I was a fat, slovenly drunk from Milwaukee and I could make thousands of dollars by talking about some B-movie garbage from the 80s every two weeks, I think I'd ride that train for as long as I could too. RLM were never especially ambitious, and I think Space Cop convinced them that it was better to stay in their lane forever than to embarrass themselves further by trying to be genuinely creative
Also all of those ideas require far more work, a significant up front investment and a very high probability of failure compared to running a youtube channel and raking in Patreon money

Why was Roger Ebert unambitious? Could have started a film company. Could have opened a movie theater bearing his name.
Instead all Roger Ebert did was star in a weekly show where he trashed movies. Really low effort.

all those business require something that RLM doesn't haveβ€”and apparently has no intention of ever getting: sponsors. they're better off as they are

I think they're comfortable with putting out a couple of videos every month about whatever they want, all shot and edited by one of them, and collecting the ad revenue and patreon bucks from that versus trying to ramp up into a media empire where everything gradually becomes outside of their control and one flop could instantly bankrupt them like we've seen with other YT channels.
